Need help with transmission issue and finding parts!

I have a 2014 Ford Fusion SE AWD with the 2.0L Ecoboost motor in it and about 102,000 KM on the motor and transmission that has been parked in my back yard for about a year and a half now ?.

While washing my car at the hand wash one day, I went to go leave. Car drove there perfectly and had never had an issue with shifting or any indications something had been failing. I back out, no issues. Go to go forward, nothing. I revved a bit more and it hard shifted into 5th gear and went. Great. So now I have 5th gear and reverse and no 1-4 gears working.

Engine light comes on. So I limp it home and throw the scanner on it. It's throwing P0750 which indicated a fault in Shift Solenoid A.

  • Faulty shift solenoid A
  • Low transmission fluid level
  • Dirty or contaminated transmission fluid
  • Poor electrical connection for shift solenoid A
  • Valve body assembly faulty

I take the car to the dealership because I couldn't be bothered at the time to tear into the trans and tell them "it's throwing this code, please change the shift solenoid". They charge me $600 to change the transmission fluid and tell me "yeah it's a code about the solenoid" - no shit that is what I said. They didn't change the part. Just charged me for the fluid change and it was still throwing the same code and condition so that knocks a couple issues off the list.

They tell me it's 50/50 on whether its the solenoid or I am going to need a new trans - mechanic wasn't sure either way. Fluid was clean and no shrapnel anywhere according to his report. Low cost of $4,800 and they'd throw in a USED trans from an insurance write off in there with only 60,XXX KM on it. Uhm yeah no thanks?

The solenoids are $300 from the stealership and then fluid and a new gasket are just shy of $600 again - plus labour of course.

My Question:

Where is a good place to get this solenoid? Should I replace all of them? Is this a common issue? How likely is it that the transmission is totally kaput? and why the flying frick doesn't this thing have a drain plug on the bottom! Any help is greatly appreciated haha.
