sonex293
Ok, I just got an email back from Sirius about the TravelLink. There is currently no lifetime subscription. If you want to use the TravelLink service, you have to have a valid music service and then pay an additional amount as indicated on their webpage. Monthly $5.99, 24months $125.79, 36months $185.69 or 48months $251.58 ouch..... I like the service, but a little too much for me.... -- Michael I still haven't been able to find any information about a TravelLink lifetime subscription. If anyone has that information, can you please post it? This is the only TravelLink pricing I've been able to find.. http://www.sirius.com/servlet/BlobServer?b...e=1241184094171

You have Sirius for 6 months free and what they mean is they want you to activate it so after 6 months they can start getting some $$ out of ya. On one of the other forums I belong to those cars come with XM and when members go to renew or activate it they him and haw around and state that others have gotten their first year for $77 and they want it too. It is my understanding that they so far have agreed to it. If not I'd just cancel it out and wait a while to see what happens. You could try this with Sirius and see what happens. Maybe if some of you out there have gotten a deal on sirius besides the multi year deals you could post it here for the rest of us.

Rodeo
ouch is right...MSN direct on a Garmin is like $5.00 a month...Of course, if you have the factory NAV, you'd want to go with that. Garmin has a new service called NuLink that gives traffic, weather, movies, gas prices, flight status and more and the cost is only $5 a month. Right now it is only available with their newest Garmin GPS the 1690 but will become the standard for all newly released models. Best part is if you buy the 1690, it comes with NuLink for 2 Free Years which is not a bad deal. I myself will likely upgrade my older Garmin to one of these when I get my new car, if not sooner. http://www.garmin.com/garmin/cms/cache/off...648C0383CB801ED By the way, Sirius is "active" in all dealer cars because they want to show you how and what it sounds like. It's all part of Siriuses marketing plan. Same thing with the 6 free months once you buy the car. Their motto is "give em' a taste for free and they'll come back for more" That's how they hook you into becomming a regular subscriber.

I saw the writeup on that Nu-Link, and when my 260W craps out, or I hit the lotto, I'll buy one. right now, my Nuvi 260W is perfect, and has never given me a wrong turn. Sirius sounds like crap compared to FM, CD's, or my iPod, and has in my last 3 vehicles. I will never buy Sirius. Seriously. lol. Commercial free is nice, but they play the same thing over and over on Octane, Hair Nation, Classic Rewind, 80's on 8 and 90's on 9.

I plan to definitely "try the trial" free period and will judge if it's worth keeping or not. I can tell you I have two daughters both in their early 20s with 1-2 year old cars purchased new and neither one of them continued past the free trial period. That says allot to me. I myself do travel allot though so I am looking forward to checking it out but have a feeling that I too will not subscribe. I am confident that I will have NuLink though in my car.

I will say it's pretty nice going cross country...It has just the right amount of people talking to keep you awake. I drove from Colorado to Kentucky straight through and listened to Sirius quite a bit. It sounds a little better than AM, but worse than FM. The trial starts the day you pick the car up from the dealer. It came in My Wife's Edge, my F150, and this Fusion. I've never bought it, and I wish the other 2 had Sync.
Deathlok
I absolutely LOVE my Sirius radio!!!! I don't know how I get along without it. I love all the talk & music. Howard 100 Channel 99, Playboy Channel 124, NFL radio Channel 77, On Broadway Channel 78, Metropolitan Opera Radio Channel 80, Symphony Hall Channel 97, LIVE CFL games baby! w00t Channel 102, Sirius Stars --->>>> Deepak Chopra's Wellness Radio! WOOHOO Plus I like to dabble in the other channels. I never listen to my burnt cds, it is all the same music! Sirius gives me a much wider range of music & talk. Howard Stern & Robin are freakin HAR_LARRY_OUS!!!!!!! I only got symphony & classical music on Saturday afternoons via CBC. Now I have entire channels dedicated to them. I am NOT going to ask for a "deal" I want them to survive. I can't wait to subscribe so I can listen at home while surfing the net. I also heard rumors that this app that is on the iPhone that allows you to tune in internet radio stations might kill Satellite radio. Yhey adapt it for automobiles.

Deathlok
Why? because I like CFL games? oh and on Playboy, they have Night Calls Adult legends Christy Canyon and Ginger Lynn give you a chance to win their panties as they play You Bet Your Panties. Where else can I obtain quality programming of this nature?

See, now there's four pure trash reasons right there not to subscribe to this garbage. And ohh yea, the CFL games too since you mentioned it..
Deathlok
But I am Canadian. I love football. And up here, the local stations do not cover NFL or college football to the extent that I would prefer. I like CFL, NFL, American college, Canadian college. I will even follow the new United Football League (UFL) league when it starts! If Howard is not your cup of tea, thats fine. I LOVE it!!! Its so funny! I love when they call up some unsuspecting business & play a prank on them. "This is a beagle store, not a bagel store!" LMFAO
mlwaverunr
I find it interesting and a bit tiring that there are so many on here to tell other folks what they should like and how to spend their money. We are all Fusion fans---most of you actually own one---and in that sense we have something in common. If you choose a different ride, nav, radio service, ok---it's your money and it's your choice. I may not make the same choice and that is still ok in the free world----last time I checked. Once someone here pays my bills, then you can make my choices. Opinions are awesome----attacks are ridiculous.
Rodeo
Attacks?? I don't see any attacks? He expressed his opinion of why he likes Sirius and I countered with reasons (my opinion) of why I wouldn't like Sirius. Aren't we both entitled to express our opinions? Why do you perceive that as attacks on someone? I consider it as a discussion and don't feel I personally attacked anyone. I guess in your opinion then if you don't agree with the status quo, that you are attacking someone. Hey, you too are entitled to your opinion too and that's fine. (I have to like Howard Stern just because Deathlok or you do???) Deathlok, did you consider my response a "personal attack" against you? mlwavernr, if you're "tired" of reading responses, then don't bother to read. its that simple. No one is forcing you to open any thread and read it much less reply. I guess if things don't go your way you are not a happy camper .

Oprah? Thanks... I admit it, I like Oprah's soul series. I also like Howard Stern though...
smr2112
In case this wasn't already known.... I just had my year subscription with my wife's VW renew, but the credit card online was expired. I called and just simply told the CSR that I wasn't interested in renewing and played dumb. They immediately handed me to a customer retentions specialist, told them the same and they IMMEDIATELY gave me the deal for $77/yr (but it billed me for $69 with a slight credit of some sort). Took a while to do, but I did not have to beg for this. Sirius doesn't want to lose any subscribers. So don't pay full rate... They said it was a special promotion, but I doubt it is.

smr2112
I guess this is just music service and doesn't include traffic? Well the traffic you're good for 3 years, so nobody has gotten to ask about this. What I don't know is what they would charge for any premium services like Howard 100, etc. When Oct or so rolls around, the first FFH owners of us will hit 6 months and they can provide their experience to get the best price. I can tell, with the economy and Sirius/XMs financial shape, they need to hang on to every customer they can - so might as well exploit that. I also could not add my FFH to my account I had on sirius.com with my VW. It does not recognize my ESN. Customer service at Sirius said it won't go through to add and if I insisted (by phoine), it would force an annual renewal immediately. With XM I was able to add my new car and it did not bill until the 3 months free were up. Sirius doesn't work this way, so I'll wait until I get nasty letters about activation ending and then run the "I can't afford it script" and see what I get.
asperities
A quick check of either Fatwallet or Slickdeals (or many others, probably) will provide the details of the various concessions that retention will offer. Unfortunately, my limited exerience with Sirius CSRs pretty much has decided that I will let it lapse when the 6 mos are up. I have three cars and it doesn't really pay to have a limited service in one car and not the other two. The additional cost of equipment, installation and monthly fees puts this into the "way overpriced" category for me (Subaru module for my HK radio is about 500, and finding a portable that can be neatly inserted into the cabin of a Z4 is really a very expensive install and acquisition). This seems to be one totally broken business model -- trying to adapt the Sat TV model to cars. Oh well, I live in a major metro area with traffic and weather readily available on the dial. In case this wasn't already known.... I just had my year subscription with my wife's VW renew, but the credit card online was expired. peteostro
We got a call from Sirus this weekend asking if we wanted to sign up. (we go our FFH in April)We said we were still thinking about it and they asked what was holding us back. We just said we need to discuss if we really wanted it (we didn't want to talk since we were too busy at the time). I'm sure they will callback. I'm going to hold out and see if they will offer us a deal. $15 a month is too much. But if we can get that 77 dollar deal it would be worth it.
