2014 Fusion speaker buzz

Recommended Posts

Did some searching with no results. I’ve got a 2014 Fusion that has started (within the last 4-6 months) to have what sounded like a vibration noise coming from either the door panel or dash area when the engine was running (hybrid, engine doesn’t always run when the car is moving) at certain RPMs. Initially, it sounded like a mechanical vibration, such as the door panel touching the dash, and it would only be audible at certain frequencies. I pulled the door panel today to eliminate that possibility. I finally discovered the noise was coming from the speaker. It only makes the noise when the engine is running at certain RPMs. When I unplug the speaker, there is no buzzing noise. Any ideas? I was thinking it could be some attempt by Ford at noise cancelling or at least dampening when the engine is running, but this is just a shot in the dark. I will post a video demonstrating the buzzing shortly. Thanks in advance.

I just bought a '14 fusion SE hybrid that has this exact issue. The seller (one man dealer) said he's seen it before and replace my the speaker always fixed the problem. Listening to it I was suspicious it might be a loose wire vibrating against the door when the engine runs. If it really is speaker noise maybe its a grounding or rf interference issue? Has anyone solved this problem without going to non oem speakers?
