Ralph Lauren
Both rocker panel sides have 1:1 this amount of rust, as shown in this picture off of Google. Rocker Panels are cheap, labor is not. What can I do to get rid of this rust without blowing thousands? What multiple options do I have?
akirby
If it’s just surface rust sand/grind it down to bare metal, fill, prime and repaint. If it’s more extensive you can cut out the rust and have a piece welded in. You shouldn’t have to do the whole rocker unless it’s all rusted through.
WKelley
Be ready for a BIG hole when you grind out that rust, once the paint is bubbled you have a hole.
andyross
There is a rust database thread. That rocker panel paint is extra thick. Water gets in through a seam behind the wheelwell and rusts through. If you push on those bubbled areas, you will probably feel how spongy it is.

Right, I worried about that. It's on both sides, but I still think in theory replacing the entire thing would cost more. I wouldn't know - but what could someone assume the labor on fixing both sides cost? My car looks exactly like the pic and it's only been there an entire season.

Opinion: You will get more accurate estimates and information if you obtain professional estimates from 3-4 body shops in your area. Random, anonymous Internet guestimates by a bunch of Internet mooks (me included...??) will not be very accurate or helpful. And you would need to bring it to a body shop anyway. So my advice would be to get the cost information/estimates from the correct source in the first place. Let us know how you make out and good luck.
