I have a 2017 fusion 2.5 with 99k miles on it. I have a “chuggle” I will call it. It feels like an engine miss on light accel from 20mph up to 60mph. It runs fine under hard acceleration and I can’t get it to miss on a brake torque. No cel or codes. I have replaced the plugs but no difference. Could it be a fuel injector dirty? A guy told me to do an induction clean as it is probably carbon build up on the intake valves?

Hi Handyman. You don't mention how long this has been occurring. Could be something as simple as a bad tank of gas.

However, if it is not that, then It could be any of several things. Just a few, in no particular order:

- Spark plugs, but you state you changed them. What plugs did you install. If it was anything other than the correct spec Motorcraft plugs, I would change them again.

- Dirty injector/injectors.

- Bad/failing injector/injectors.

- Bad/failing coil/coils.

- Failing plug wires.

- Failing PCM.

You can try the simple stuff first, like having your OBDII system scanned for DTC codes (DTC codes can be stored without warning lights). Most big box auto stores will scan for free.

And/or running a bottle or two of Techron through your next two tanks of gas.

Next, changing the plugs again, if they are not Motorcraft plugs.

If none of that helps, and there are no DTC codes, you will probably need professional help to properly diagnose and correct it. Otherwise, you will likely just wind up throwing money and parts at the problem.

Keep us updated and good luck.
