FL-Kruzen
I got a letter from FMC stating that some models may experience leaking brake fluid from the front flexible brake lines. So, I made an appointment with my local dealer. I took my car in today and they said that as long as I'm not experiencing any symptoms, leaking fluid, no service light showing or brake pedal going to the floor when applied, then I would have to wait until the issue presents itself. Hmm, so, they know there is a flexible break hose issue, and they notify me by letter, but to get the brake hoses replaced I must wait until a failure occurs. Why do I get the impression that this may be a dangerous situation or is it just me? Has anyone else received this letter? Have you had a similar experience? Thank you,

If it is the same letter mentioned previously by others, it is not a "Recall". The letter notifies owners of a Customer Satisfaction Program which gives extended coverage of 10 years to the brake lines. However, the number of actual vehicles affected by the brake line issue is minimal. Therefore, vehicles are inspected and repaired as necessary. In the case of a ~9 year old vehicle...If the brake lines are still fine at this point, it is unlikely to ever be affected by the issue. If you still feel you want to pursue the matter further to have them proactively replaced now, contact Ford Customer Service and see what they can/will do for you. Let us know how you make out and good luck. Edited October 12, 2022 by bbf2530
FL-Kruzen
Thank you for the clarification. The letter could have been reworded to make it more understandable.

Harts510
This is now an official recall and the dealer is supposed to be contacted.
WKelley
It would help if you posted the recall number, they are usually 5 digits with the middle being a letter.
