Glamqueen
I have a 2014 fushion SE. recently the speakers (all of them) started making a very loud static noise on occasion and then then audio stops working all together (no sounds from radio, usb, Bluetooth or even dinging when the car door is open/starting ignition. The other day it made a very loud static noise that seemed to stop after about a minute or so, resulting in no audio. Audio hasn’t come on since. However the other day even with radio switched to “off” it still made that static noise for a brief second. It’s is a super loud noise that is startling and can make it hard to drive, I plan on taking the car into my mechanic to hopefully diagnose the issue but I guess my question is, up until then, does anyone have a suggestion as to what I can do to stop that noise if it does come on? Keep in mind the volume was at minimum the whole time the noises came on. I’m getting to the point where I’m scared to drive the car…: does this affect something else in the car? Please help. Thanks in advance!
dallasfan712
I am so glad I found this post. I have the same exact issue!!! Except for me, I took it to Ford dealership a year ago and they told me that I needed a new radio. So I spent $800 on a new stock radio only to have the issue start happening again this past week. Currently, I have no sound at all. It started out with loud popping, static noise that basically scared me because it was so loud when it happened. Then finally yesterday the noise was happening without the radio even on and that's when the audio hasn't worked since! I'm glad I'm not the only person that is experiencing this. Did you take it to the mechanic yet?
JohnnyBob
I have what sounds like the same issue with my 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid. For me it first happened during a drive to a ski resort. Super loud popping noise while the music was cutting out. Then no music at all and Crazy loud popping noise. Only turning off the radio silenced the noise. For me, the problem went away after I drove home (warmer and lower altitude). But this morning, it happened again. Not sure if it is temperature related, but it was pretty cold this morning. Have you found a solution? Thanks!
dash88
Same thing happened to me, 2015 Fusion. After looking online at various forums it looks like it's a common problem. I initially had static coming out all speakers. Then after a month of that, the loud popping noises started, and then the radio stopped working completely. You could turn it on, but no sound, couldn't change channels, and the seat belt chimes didn't sound either. Had a dealership replace the audio control module about a week ago. Radio was working for a week, then the exact same thing just happened today. Didn't get any static, just the loud pop and then radio wouldn't work anymore. Anybody know what to do here?
DSB
I have the same issue with my 2015, it goes away after I shut the car off for a few only to come back later. Any feed back on what to do here would be greatly appreciated.

WKelley
I would be highly more likely to try and find a reliable electrical guru, most dealerships do not have high level techs when it comes to electronics and wiring. I would be loathe to trust a dealer ad they will scan for codes and take the easy route and collect the money. I'm not trying to bash dealerships as most employ competent people to do mechanical repairs. Electronic/electric repairs are a whole different level. Dealerships have their purpose, but getting you car repaired at one takes some serious research to see if they have anyone that can handle such a diagnosis. If I were to take my car to a dealership for such work I would ask for writing up front that the repair is guarenteed and has warranty. dallasfan712
I've posted on this forum before and empathize with everyone else who is experiencing this same problem. It's a joke and I'm sure FORD knows that it's a defect in the ACM but since it's not a "safety" issue a recall isn't really logical. I've replaced my head unit 2x here with the local dealership and after awhile the same thing happens. I've been driving around for the last 6 months with a Bluetooth speaker to at least have some sort of music when driving a good distance. I do agree it is a complex problem that a Ford mechanic is probably not going to solve. It is a defect/bug in the head unit(ACM) in a range of years of fusions made. I've also chatted with an audio business to install an aftermarket unit but of course with all the controls of the climate and other items that are in the head unit, it's not cheap and it's not worth it to me. Unless someone knows how to put together a meeting or contact a high level mechanic/engineer with Ford directly, I don't think our issue will be solved. The local Ford dealerships have their top level mechanics but not enough knowledge or understanding that this is an issue across thousands of fusions. Their answer is to just swap it out and charge you $800+. I'm suffering like everyone else....
WKelley
I agree 100%. There has to be some underlying issue for the originals radios lasting as long as 10yrs. This is what we get when they put too many damn modules in these cars with piss poor quality. If you ask me, most anything, and I mean Euro and Asian as well, built after 2007 has been a slope downwards. The more they cost to buy the more they cost to fix. I'm hoping the strikes break all their backs.
