Jay Yeo
I have a 2012 Ford Fusion that has sat for a few weeks and now it won't start. The dash lights do not come on, but all other lights, including the headlights and electronics work. The only light showing on the dash is the airbag light. I have been charging the battery because I think it is drained and checked it after a few hours and the car cranked slowly for about 5 seconds. Do these cars require a minimum voltage for the dash lights to turn on?

The situation you describe is most likely a dead battery. It may also be beyond hope as far as charging. Try jump starting your Fusion from another vehicle. If that does not work, have the battery tested or simply replace it. Keep us updated and good luck.
Jay Yeo
I replaced the battery today and have the same results. When i disconnect the battery then reconnect it the car will crank for about 5 seconds then stop. The only light that shows on the instrument cluster is the air bag light. I don't see any blown fuses.
Fuser
First suggestion would be to check the alternator. What voltage do you get when you are cranking the engine? Also check for corroded grounds. Take the ground connections lose and clean the connectors and point of connection. Bad ground connections can cause a lot of aggravation.
Jay Yeo
Sorry for the delay updating this issue. I have found that the instrument cluster is randomly dying. If I unplug it and wait 5 to 10 minutes then plug it back in the car will start. If the car sits for more than 24 hours sometimes less then the instrument cluster will die again. So far the unplug and plug it back in solution has been working. Sometimes the display in the instrument cluster will show only ssss or eee and the guages freeze in place so i think the cluster is failing.
