Hi...pretty ignorant here so need help. I've attempted to use you tube without understanding.

I have one functional key that is a one piece key fob. It works, and am hoping to create another as a back up that has all the function of the key I have including starting the car. As everyone, I'm trying to do this economically, but I also want a functional, reliable, back up.  What must I do?

Hi Will. If you only have one programmed keyfob, you will need to purchase a second one, then you will need a Ford Dealer or automotive locksmith to program your old and new keyfob.

You can purchase a new keyfob from a Ford Dealer or an online Ford parts seller. There are also sellers who offer keyfobs on Amazon/eBay etc.

You need two programmed keyfobs to program a new one. This is for an anti-theft protection purposes. Since you only have one keyfob, the programming must be performed by a Ford Dealer or automotive locksmith with the proper tools.

As an additional thought, it may not be a bad idea to purchase two and have all three programmed in case you lose one.

This is also explained in the Owners Manual.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.
