Occasionally when I am driving, stop and shift into reverse from drive,  it feels like the engine is in neutral for a second before engaging in reverse with a hard shift. Any ideas?

Hi djg and welcome to the Ford Fusion Forum. First steps would usually be to check the transmission fluid level, color, smell etc. Have you changed the transmission fluid at any point in your ownership? How many miles does the current fluid have  on it? If more than 50,000 miles, I would recommend having the transmission fluid flushed and refilled with the proper fluid specification, as per the Maintenance and Specifications pages in your Owners Manual.

Take those  initial steps, let us know how you make out and good luck.
