Dwbk1993 Posted March 13, 2023 Share Posted March 13, 2023 i have a ford fusion 2010 sel with 264,000 miles 2.5l been getting a p0461 code and some smoke coming from the exhaust in 4th gear at about 50 mph there is black soot of the exhaust tips and apparently it is recent as i just had a recent oil change and transmission fluid was changed as well any word on what the problem might be ???? 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Hi Dwbk. You can find information on the causes and possible fixes of a P0461 DTC here: https://www.obd-codes.com/p0461 Since that DTC indicates a "Fuel Level Sensor Circuit Range/Performance" issue, it does not seem to be anything pointing towards transmission trouble. What makes you think the vehicle is having transmission trouble? Black soot and smoke (black) can point towards a tuning issue (not transmission trouble). When was the last time the spark plugs were changed and a general tune-up performed (air filter etc.)?
