dcell
I was hoping to replace valves and valve guides due to excessive wear and significant play. I'm looking on ford dealerships website and don't see valve guides available for purhcase. I don't even see them in the parts diagram. Same thing with autozone/oreilly. Does anyone know if the valve guides on a 2019 ford fusion energi titanium hybrid are removable? Please tell me they're not machined into the head ?

WKelley
In my mind you have to be extremely brave to trust RockAuto for internal engine parts. I also can't see a scenario where I would try to change valve guides/seals without pulling the head and sending it to the machine shop. Without proper tooling putting in valve guides is sketchy.
dcell
Thanks for the link drolds1. I confirmed with ford dealership that this 2019 ford fusion energi titanium hybrid has valve guides that are cast into the head. If they were removable inserts I have the tools to do that myself but in order to replace these guides the originals would have to get machined out. I don't have that kind of equipment. Local shop machine shop charges $320 parts and labor. Not knowing the quality of replacement valve guides they carry I think I'll play it safe and go with a new head from Ford which is only $60 dollars more with a total cost of $380.
drolds1
I was going to suggest exactly that, but it sounded as if you could do your own work and were looking to save some money. Based on your findings, this sounds like the smart way to go. Keep us posted.
