jasonp
Anyone know why in my 2009 ford fusion why the headlights automatically come on with the ignition? I don't have automatic headlights and it does it in daylight as well.
andyross
The sensor may be bad and thinks it is always dark out.

Do the taillights also come on when you turn on the ignition? If they do not, it is possible that the DRL's are enabled on your vehicle. If you purchased used and it was a Canadian vehicle, the DRL's would be enabled from the factory. It is also possible the owner of a US vehicle enabled the DRL's. If it is not the DRL's, then you have a glitch somewhere in the lighting/electrical system that will need troubleshooting. Is there anything covering the ambient light sensor on the dashboard? Keep us updated and good luck. Edited April 18, 2023 by bbf2530
drolds1
The OP states that he doesn't have "automatic" headlamps. If the car wasn't equipped with Autolamp, there's not going to be an issue with an ambient light sensor.
WKelley
IF it were a Canadian car it should have KM/H on top and it would have DRL's.
