HLuna Posted June 22, 2023 Share Posted June 22, 2023 Hello to all! I just bought my fusion a week ago. And this is my first actual “me” car. No help from anyone, nor was my choice influenced by anyone. Which has led to me wanting to really make this car my own. I already have an idea on what I want to do cosmetic wise, which brings me to my question. what all can I do to get the most out of my engine/car? I am new to everything mod wise. WKelley Posted June 25, 2023 Share Posted June 25, 2023 The 2.5L is a great engine but it is the bread and butter engine meaning it was never meant to make more power than it already does. If you threw enough money at it you could maybe turbo it, but as akirby already said, the other engine choices are more performance oriented. Some year equivalent Mazda 6/3 parts can fit, but the same is true for the Mazda as well, the 2.5 was not meant to be a performance engine. 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It does have more power in regards to my previous car so I’ll have to settle with that for now and stick to cosmetic mods. Hi HLuna and welcome to the Ford Fusion Forum. Yes, it would be pointless for several reasons (as it would be with most newer vehicles). First, the Fusion already has an efficient factory CAI, which can supply more than enough air to the engine. So more air is pointless. Second...Most aftermarket CAI's are misnamed, since they are not sufficiently sealed, and therefore suck in hot engine bay air. All an aftermarket CAI will do is give you more intake noise, while possibly adversely affecting performance. Same goes for cat-back exhaust systems. The Fusion already has a good quality exhaust system. And the bottleneck in the exhaust tract of modern vehicles are the catalytic converters. So opening up the exhaust aft of the catalytic converters does nothing to help performance.
