AC compressor start issues

i have a 2006 ford fusion se 2.3l.  the air conditioning is giving me fits.  when you turn the ac on the compressor will not start unless you jump power from the battery to the positive terminal on the compressor.  you do not have to leave the jumper on, just long enough for the clutch to kick in.  the compressor will then run and act fine until the car is turned off and restarted, at which point you have to repeat the process again.  the compress has been replaced along with the evaporator temperature sensor under the dash as i knew these were an issue on these cars.  i have traced down all the wiring and checked for breaks in the wire.  i have tested and replaced the ac compressor clutch relay.  the ac pressures are within normal operating range on the high and low pressure sides.  i had a mechanic put a computer on the car and there are no codes related to the AC.

at this point i am stumped.  any input would be appreciated.

thanks, don
