You are correct that it makes no difference, and "Sport" is still the operational selection. However, I would recommend stopping by the Service Department and asking why the seemingly incorrect part was installed. And also ask for the correct one to be installed now. Let us know what they say and good luck.
Netjel
Thanks for the reply If it make no difference other than the "look" of the L where the "S" should be I'll probably leave it for now. ( Life has been a wee bit hectic of late ) I'm assuming that this selector probably belongs in Trucks / SUV's but if it has a lower fail rate it may super-cede the original part?? Again, thanks for the reply ??

It is the selector from a Fusion trim level that has a "L" (Low) setting instead of "S" (Sport). They should not have installed a selector from a Truck/SUV, unless it is the same part number for your particular Fusion model selector. Parts are cross referenced and supplied to the Service Department by the Parts Department according to VIN. Let us know how you make out and good luck.
WKelley
I wonder if they are electrically fully compatible and was the only one in stock? I'd ask the dealer.
