2018 Ford Fusion Knock

I have a 2018 Ford Fusion that has recently developed a knock. The weird thing about the knock is that it goes away when you rev the motor or when you drive it but at idle it sounds horrible. I was recently driving it before parking it and it gave me a “Service Powertrain” light on the dash and I checked the code and it was a P0741. By the time I got back home the code had cleared and there are still no codes on the vehicle. I have also drained the oil and there are no metal shavings in it. Any input on what this could be would be helpful. Thank you!

Hi tkeener and welcome to the Ford Fusion Forum. Here is a link to help with the P0741 DTC code: https://www.obd-codes.com/p0741

Unfortunately, since it relates to "Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Performance or Stuck off", it does not seem to explain the ticking/knocking you are experiencing.

Take a look at the code/troubleshooting explanation, and see if you feel you may need a professional shop/tech/mechanic for further assistance.

Oh, one question: Is there any chance your Fusion is still within the 5 year/60,000 mile Powertrain Warranty?

Keep us updated and good luck.

The noise could be from the transmission, but it is impossible to know without physically hearing it.

Whatever you do, get it looked at immediately, knocking is obviously very bad for whatever is making the noise and could cause a catastrophic failure.
