chris246810 Posted January 2 Share Posted January 2 hello all new to the forum. I recently purchased a 2013 for fusion Se about a year ago. i got it with 25,000 miles on it. I haven't replaced anything it all clean and looking good. so i just started to get a message saying "battery saver mode radio off" so i'm assuming its the battery maybe it is old or original so i buy a new one about a month ago and now it popped up on my car again before i started it. I saw on a another forum saying it was the bluetooth that is connected to my phone that could be draining the battery. it was a post i found online from 2 years ago. could that be the problem that i have to turn off blue tooth? the radio is the small screen radio not the sync 2 or 3. brand new battery shouldn't be dying so soon. any help would be great. 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
drolds1 Posted January 3 Share Posted January 3 Welcome to the FFF. Did you replace the battery yourself, at a Ford dealer or independent shop? If it wasn't a dealer, was the Battery Management System (BMS) reset? If this isn't done properly, the system has no way of knowing that the battery has been replaced and will repeat messages triggered by the old, weak battery. If the BMS was done, and you're still getting the message, a professional diagnosis is indicated unless you're in the habit of listening to the radio in 'ACC' mode for extended periods of time. IDK how Bluetooth could have anything to do with it unless you're on the phone for extended periods of time in ACC. 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I did the battery change on my own not knowing there was something to be reset. im going to pull the manual out of the glove box and see if there is any information on the BMS reset. about the Bluetooth after reading that post i was like i can't believe it would do that but i just wanted to write that in here just in case it was true. thank you for the help i will let you know what i find out. 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

No. The OM doesn't mention it. If you enter 'BMS' in the SEARCH box above, you'll find plenty of discussion on this topic. You can try this. It may or may not work. Hi chris. Check the Index in your Owners Manual under "Changing the 12v battery". It is page 251 of the "3rd printing" . On earlier Fusions there is an Idle and Fuel Trim Strategy relearn procedure which needs to be performed when the battery has been replaced. That procedure was replaced by the BMS reset in later model years. For a full explanation, see your Owners Manual. In the meantime, here is the Idle and Fuel Trim relearn procedure: "1. With the vehicle at a complete stop, set the parking brake. 2. Shift the transmission into P. 3. Turn off all accessories. 4. Step on the brake pedal and start the vehicle. 5. Run the engine until it reaches normal operating temperature. While the engine is warming up, complete the following: Reset the clock. See Audio System (page 105). Reset the power windows bounce-back feature. See Windows and Mirrors (page 72). Reset the radio station presets. See Audio System (page 105). 6. Allow the engine to idle for at least one minute. If the engine turns off, step on the accelerator to start the engine. 7. While the engine is running, step on the brake pedal and shift the transmission to N. 8. Allow the engine to run for at least one minute by pressing on the accelerator pedal. 9. Drive the vehicle at least 10 miles (16 kilometers) to completely relearn the idle and fuel trim strategy. Note: If you do not allow the engine to relearn the idle and fuel trim strategy, the idle quality of your vehicle may be adversely affected until the engine computer eventually relearns the idle trim and fuel trim strategy."
