Eli23569
Hello, new fusion owner here. I have a 2012 ford fusion SEL with the 3.0 V6. I recently hit a deer and now my car says “service power steering now” and something about the advanced track. I’m wondering if it is something in the wheel? The deer hit the driver side fender. I’ll post pics below. Edited February 7 by Eli23569

I’ll post pics below. HI Eli23569 and welcome to the Fusion Forums. Blind Internet diagnosis is tricky at best, even with photos. And it is not the wheel itself. You sustained left front end damage. The messages you are receiving would lead one to believe either the AdvanceTrac sensors/wiring or other components, or other AdvanceTrac related/connected suspension components were at least partially damaged. Did you have Collision coverage on your Insurance policy? Are you having the vehicle repaired? The way to have this properly diagnosed would be to have the vehicle looked at by a Collision/body shop or a Lincoln Dealer or independent shop you trust. Anything else is educated but still blind guessing. I am sure others will jump in with more help and advice, so keep us updated and good luck.

Sooooo insurance would cost me an arm and a leg for me to have full coverage on it so I decided to fix it myself since its not “totaled”.
WKelley
I would not start fixing anything until you pull that fender, hood and bumper cover off. You need to look for hidden damage. Although a deer usually is not a big enough animal to total a car, it all depends on how hard it hit.
drolds1
Agreed. As I found out years ago, what can appear to be just sheetmetal damage can hide a number of ills. It takes less of a hit than you might think to tweak a subframe.
fusionmanor
Pretty good hit for a Deer right at the Fuse box and Battery, A really low Battery charge or a shorted cell will bring up the same messages...........
WKelley
What worries me is the hood is pushed up and over, if it's in the hinges it's an easy fix. Hopefully the frame rail and strut tower are intact.

Frame support and strut are still intact (thank god) there is a set of wires that was covered in a plastic box kinda that is now exposed from the headlight breaking the plastic. The headlight was pushed back. I can get a pic for you tomorrow.

Battery still has a good charge, I was looking into it some more and something about a wheel sensor came up, I could see that being my issue for advanced track giving me a light, could that have something to do with my EPS too? Feel like advanced track and EPS are together some how?
Eli23569
I just remembered this, after I hit the deer I didn’t have any error codes, my car sat for about a month at my girlfriends dads house covered with a tarp, (it was sitting on the side of the road by the curb, not in the driveway or anything) when I started it one day I got messages for advanced track and EPS. There is a slight wobble in the steering wheel when driving. Found that out today.
fusionmanor
I wouldn't be driving it around with all that metal and plastic pushed into the strut and Coil Spring, strange thinks can happen....................
