murrin95 Posted December 26, 2009 Share Posted December 26, 2009 Hello i'm kind of new to the site and my wife has a 2010 Fusion Sport and randomly the drivers mirror will illuminate and then dash will display "blind spot not available". I talked to my local dealer and they said they have to try to reprogram it first then if that doesn't work replace the mirror and at a last resort replace some harnesses. I guess it's a early production problem only, but i was curious if anyone has had this problem and what was done to remedy. Thanks for all the feedback Mine did it once a couple days after getting the car, the diagnostic said it was a blocked sensor. It cleared itself after restarting the car. Hasn't done it since. Now here it he interesting part, doesn't sound like your dealer knows what he is talking about. No clue why they would replace the mirror, all it has is the light, the sensor is in the rear quarter, probably in the bumper, the owners manual points it out. When mine acted up, both mirrors lit up. redfb65 Posted January 5, 2010 Share Posted January 5, 2010 I have a 2010 Sport that does the same thing on the drivers side. The manual says the sensor might be dirty, but the car is spotless. I think it comes on when i drive next to a center divider with alot of trees. I have not taken the car back to the dealer to get checked. Let us know what you find out. My local dealer told me there was three possible fixes one of which included replacing the vehicle harness. If they told u the TSB # that would be great if you could post it. murrin95 Posted January 8, 2010 Author Share Posted January 8, 2010 Ok so i got some answers today i talked to my service advisor at my local dealer and he told me that they have to perform a self test and once that is done it should be fixed once they reprogram it. murrin95 Posted January 27, 2010 Author Share Posted January 27, 2010 Ok so i got my wifes car fixed! All they had to do was reprogram blind spot module and after a week of driving seems to be ok. At first after the program my advisor told me part of the bulletin was to pop the glass out of mirror, i opted to have them not pop glass out because they said the glass could break and i'd rather not have my wife driving around with no mirrors. Galway Posted January 28, 2010 Share Posted January 28, 2010 I have owned my Fusion Sport for 6 months. I'm very impressed with the vehicle and haven't experienced any problems. However, while driving on the highway and in town today in fairly heavy rain and standing water on the road I noticed that my Blind Spot Warning System was only working when a tall vehicle like a truck passed by. It did not indicate the presence of cars. I wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if so what maybe the probable cause and/or solution. redfb65 Posted February 16, 2010 Share Posted February 16, 2010 Well, I finally took my wife's Sport to the dealer to fix the Blind Spot problem. They performed TSB 09-24-9. He said the TSB tells them to pop the mirrors off and put grease in the connections. He said they didn't reprogram it because the system didn't show any codes. Well about 5 miles from my house the stupid Blind Spot Unavailable came on again. Im so mad. Those who took their car in and the dealer fixed the problem, what exactly did they do or replace? It is a special type of grease that keeps water out and helps the connectors get a better connection. Its the same type of grese you put on spark plugs and wires. Weather was cool and sunny, nobody near me, driving up roads where there has never been a problem so I don't think it's a RF issue. Took it to the dealer once and they basically brushed me off and said go away. It has happened when raining, sunny, with things like barriers beside me and when clear. I was getting ready to take it back again, but thought I would look online first and then I found this site. There was mention of the TSB in this forum. They said they found TSB 10-15-4, which told them to start by replacing the right side mirror. They did, but there was no change. When I went back in again, they replaced the left side mirror. This made matters worse. Now it happens DAILY at various places on my way to work!! My route to work is along a four-lane highway dotted with traffic lights. Almost always, I get the warning when I'm driving in the left lane and the curbing of the median branches to the left for a left-hand turn lane. When I went back to the dealer, they said they were out of "tricks", but that Ford engineering was working on a solution. They needed a month or so. I waited four months before going back. When I did, they wanted to check some module to see if it was the latest version. It was. I'm subscribing to keep track of this issue. I just got my 2011 Sport last week and I have already had the same error come up with the BLIS quite a few times and always on the left side.
