tricky12
I went ahead and bit the bullet and dropped my car off at Ford this morning. They just called and they said that my coolant leak is covered under a powertrain warranty. They didn't mention what the problem was, but thought I'd throw that out there for anyone else having this issue after putting some miles on their Fusion. I'm right at 50k miles, and I had never had the slushing before, which was caused by my leak (hopefully). I'll report back with exactly what the cause was when I go pick it up later. Boy it feels good knowing this isn't costing me some hard-earned cash (aside from $60 for diagnostics). drolds1
Water pump? Based on where the coolant is leaking and that's it's covered under the powertrain warranty, I'm guessing water pump as well.
deo1929
It's been ages since I started this thread and posted. My Fusion has 116K miles on it. Since the engine replacement at 6K miles, I have had no issues with the sloshing sound. Hopefully everyone is getting either their issue resolved with the "fix", putting up with the sound, or have moved on to a different vehicle. Anyway... FYI.

Had a busy weekend, but yes, it was indeed the water pump. Kind of disappointing that it would start leaking after only 50k miles, but at least it was in time to be under the 60k mile powertrain warranty. Thanks for the help guys!
drolds1
Thanks for the update. Yes, 50K is kind of early for a water pump to go but at least it was covered. Glad it worked out for you. The 3.5/3.7 engines have an internal water pump. When that goes, the engine has to come out to access it. Dealer repair cost is $2G+

We just traded our 2010 "waterfall edition" Fusion in for a new 2016 Ecoboost. I have to say that as concerned as we were when we first heard the "sloshing" noise on our (then) new 2010 Fusion it was never a problem that added up to anything more than a background noise. I hope we get as good service from our new Fusion as we got from the old one.(save the TB issues)
