IcyFusion
Sucks but at least they didn't damage anything in the process, that is a good thing. I had my car parked in downtown STL a few weeks ago and these idiots busted out my drivers window, pried the door trim, scratched the door and roof down to the metal, tore up the leather on my door, damaged my door pillar, messed up my headliner and bent/broke my sunvisor...in the meantime just taking my mechanics gloves in my glove box and nothing else. I had 18% tint all around and guess they thought I had drugs or something, no rhyme or reason for these ass clowns as nothing was in sight for them to see. Like others have said it must have been a pro that nailed you, which if anything is a good thing because they try to damage as least things as possible.
CTSV2FusionSE
Do you have the keyless entry keypad? I guess they could have randomly pushed buttons to get in. After 7 tries, it will disable for 1 minute, then re-enable.
way_cola
I've read thru the thread and might have missed something. I have leased a 2012 Fusion. I woke up this morning and discovered that the 2 front windows were wide open and the moon roof was tilted open a couple inches. I'm 99.9% sure I locked the vehicle last night and all of the windows were shut tight. I had to look in the manual to find out how to close/open the moonroof since I've never fooled with it before. I guess my question is even if I had left the car unlocked, is it possible to open the windows if the key is not in the ignition? Or even worse, could the car be started and driven away?
FusionDiffusion
Yes, if the unlock button got held down you activated the global open feature that opens the front windows and moonroof.

No, not possible for someone else to open the windows without the key once you opened the driver or front passenger door with the key out of the ignition (see "Accessory Delay" feature in the Owners Manual). Also not possible for someone to start the car without the key (well, maybe a determined or professional thief of course, but not what we are discussing here). As FD stated above, you accidentally held down the unlock button on your IKT keyfob and activated the "Global Opening" feature. It is all explained in the Owners Manual. Good luck. GhostRider
I looked in the 2010 owners manual and saw nothing about "Global Open."
FusionDiffusion
2010's don't have it. It was added in 2011.
Badnikl
I do not have a Fusion. Looking for a friends issue brought me here. years ago, I rented a Maxima and the trunk was opened at least 3 different times in my 1 week rental. No sign of how it was done. The 3rd guy used a small slotted screwdriver with a notch on the shank, so it would go in just far enough. Levering the screwdriver up, it would release the trunk latch. Not just on my car, but almost every Japanese car in the rental fleets. This was done in broad daylight with a hundred tourists around. Someone look at their trunk release/key hole and latch. Put the key in and see how it operates. You should be able to see if it could be opened easily with a screwdriver. I think the trunk being opened, would not set off the alarm? I came home from that trip, checked my Mazda 626 and sure enough the trunk popped right open with a little screwdriver. I disabled the trunk key latch and zip tied the latch so it could not be opened. The inside release still worked next to the drivers seat. Little screwdrivers are more readily available than slim jims and easier to conceal too. Check your car out and someone post back. Also, If you have a Japanese model car check them out too. Oh, the 3rd guy we caught got sent back home, after 6 months in jail.
