SCOTT07AWD
WHERE DO I START; CRUSE CONTROL BUTTONS, SHOULD HAVE A 'CANCEL' BUTTON SO YOU DONT HAVE TO HIT THE BRAKE OR CLUTCH PEDAL, ON/OFF BUTTON SHOULD BE AT THE TOP AND RESUME SHOULD BE AT THE BOTTOM, SET + AND SET - SHOULD SHARE A ROCKER SWITCH. LIGHT COLORED HEADLINER AND A/B/C/ PILLAR TRIM WITH DARK CHARCOAL MAIN INTERIOR SHOULD GO, MAKE IT 'ALL' DARK CHARCOAL; CLUTCH PEDAL TOO FAR RIGHT, THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE PEDAL SHOULD BE WHERE THE LEFT SIDE IS; AUTO DOWN ON DRIVERS WINDOW, SHOULD ALSO BE AUTO UP; DRIVERS SEAT SITS TOO HIGH IN LOWEST SETTING, FEEL LIKE I'M SITTING ON A MILK CRATE ON IT'S END; DRIVERS SEAT BACK TOO FLAT, NEEDS TO PITCH FORWARD SOME AT ABOUT SHOULDER BLADE LEVEL, ADDING TO THAT, THE HEAD REST IS TOO FAR AWAY.; TRUNK NEEDS A PULL DOWN GRAB HANDLE, NOT A STRAP LIKE ON MINIVANS, BUT AN INDENTED HANDLE IN THE LID LINER MATERIAL, LIKE ON MY VOLVO S60; MANUAL SHIFTER NEEDS TO BE SMOOTHER; RETURN TO REARVIEW MIRRORS W/SET SCREW, NOT THESE INFERNAL COMPRESSION FIT PIECES. NOT REALLY COMPLAINTS MIND YOU, JUST OBSERVATIONS THAT CAN BE IMPROVED UPON There is a cancel button- it say OFF- does the same thing
SCOTT07AWD
Just a thought about an interior upgrade.. the Milan brushed aluminium dash panels will fit just fine on the Fusion. It would give it the Mustang sporty look!
Tom Cat
I have a 2007 Fusion se v6 i think it is pretty cheap of ford not to put a outside temp display.I replaced a 2004 Chev. Silverado ext. cab with this ford it does not come close in quality to the GM :anger:
tnoah
For those of you with one or thinking of getting one. What do you like about the interior? What do you not like? What would like have if there was an optional interior package like the new Mustang?I'd like just a little more chrome, not alot, just in some areas. The leather seats will get softer the more you sit in them. The trim around the speedo and tach need to be chrome like the clock and a gauge package instead of idiot lights. Blue dash lights instead of green and adjustable foot pedals.
Guest urnews
I disagree with the steering comment. It's perfect. The others are too light. Right on. Boz U R NEWS Salisbury, MD 2007 Fusion SEL AWD
urnews
1. Having the turn signal/wiper blade stalk at the 10 o'clock position is a mistake, requires unnatural extra effort, thereby defeating the purpose. 2. Power passenger seats should be an option. 3. Glove box needs a light and an MP3 plug. 4. Protection plates on the door sills need to be much larger. The painted sills are going to scratch much too easily. 5. The piano black plastic trim is a good alternative to the fake wood but scratches way too easily. 6. The analog clock in the middle of the dash (SEL) was a good idea but it looks as cheap as it is. Poor execution. 7. The electronic, computer displays on the message center and radio are primitive, old school and convey a sense of being cheap and terribly outdated. 8. The covering for the trunk floor is definitely low grade, just plain cheap. 9. The rear seats are poorly designed; do not provide enough under thigh support; the angle is incorrect. 10. The dash should have an oil pressure gauge and an ampere gauge. 11. The defroster vents are reflected onto the windshield in the daytime. 12. The fan motor is too noisy at high speeds. 13. The radio is not very sensitive, does not have much range, does not reach out well for weak stations. 14. The shuffle function only plays random songs from one CD instead of playing random songs from all six CDs. 15. The night time interior lighting is inadequate. There needs to be more light emitted on the auxiliary controls, like the power windows, side mirrors, door locks, etc. 14. The cup holders should be lighted. 15. The interior of a $27,105 SEL Fusion should reflect the fact that it costs $10,000 more than a $17,000 base price Fusion. It doesn't. socalocfusion
1. Better quality plastic to match Camry and accord. 2. in between settings for foot well and panel vents on the dial like the focus and euro cars with man hvac 3. wipers on right hand stalk and left hand stalk only for turn signals (liek focus and some euro cars) 4. high beams opposite of what they are. i accidentally flash people when i turn. 5. make suspension harder and/or make part of sport package instead of just sport appearance package - its a bit too mushy for the way i like to drive and the car was at my price point with a plan .... 6. add man capability to auto trans - I'd like to play with the 5 speeds in my I4 cus i don't like to drive a manual all the time. 7. add cool ambient lighting like the new focus will have! 8. audio display - make it look at special as the camry's and accords display
Worrys
Actually, I like the interior package option that comes with the I4 SE. It feels great and looks great all over. The only issue I'm having is that I'm getting a lot of rattling from the inside. Anyone else having this problem?

The only rattles I've had in 14 months were sunglasses in the sunglass holder and an unlatched sunvisor. The problem is both of these sounded like they were coming from the rear of the vehicle so it's hard to figure out.

Otherwise no rattles or weird noises whatsoever -- a very quiet interior. Delighted with the car except for the in-town mileage although a lighted foot well would be a nice touch.
TX WJ
I got my car yesterday and promptly put 600 miles on it. I love the car, but I hate the instrumentation. The Green LEDs look like they are out of a 80's Ford. They need something like this: I really think that they did a great job with the interior, the dash is awesome as is the console and door panels. They need to get Sirius in these cars. I would love to know what gear the tranny is in on the dash. Outside temperature control should be standard

TX WJ
Sounds sweet. The instrument cluster photo that you posted, what is that out of? Whose is it? That is out of an Acura TSX. I love the blue and I think that having the tach start at 6 o'clock is so cool. That would make the Fusion just about perfect in my book, the only thing on the car that looks cheap is the thing (instrument cluster) that the driver is always looking at.
urnews
I like the blue but the 6 o'clock positions would take some getting used to, especially when 60 mph is at 9 o'clock and not closer to noon. To each his/her own. Different strokes for different folks.

Outside temperature control should be standard The 08MY I believe will feature a new interior lighting schematic. Sirius is available, I have in my Milan, had it in my Explorer and Mountaineer, I'll never listen to radio again.. Tranny selection would be nice, so would some lower gear choices or overdrive on off choice. I drove around for a very long time downshifting into L when I was on the freeway for a long time without even thinking before I realized what I was doing. D'oh! Outside temperature control...standard? I don't get it, are you asking to become Mother Nature or something?

Did you read something about the 2008 interior lighting? There definitely should be an overdrive on/off button for the automatic transmission. I wonder why there isn't one. Anyone have any theories? By the way, what happens if you pull the lever into "L" at say 50 mph? I haven't tried that. Does it "hurt" anything, like the transmission?
falconman13
Overall, I think they did a really good job on the interior. But a few tweaks would make it a bit better I would like an outside Temp "Indicator". Its a safety thing, especially driving in the mountains. Sometimes you travel through elevations where the temp can swing wildly, its nice to know when it gets below 32 outside. The only option for the Fusion I could find was the optional rear view mirror with temp and compass. (almost 500.00) The cruise and radio controls on the steering wheel need to be swapped sides. This is a nuisance for manual shift cars because you have to take your hand off of the shifter to adjust the radio. For Auto cars I guess it wouldn't be an issue The HVAC switches should be upgraded The dome light is kinda K-Mart I don't know if there is a way, but the rear seatbelts are troublesome when putting the seat up and down. You have to feed them around the seat to get a clear pass through. The I4SE appearance package has the alum trim on the radio surround, Needs to be carried over to the left and right sides of the dash like the Milan's, Maybe also the little bit on the steering wheel Standard Leather wrapped steering wheel on all models. That urethane job just screams CHEAP Fatten up the steering wheel a bit, maybe put the 2 fat parts at 10:00 and 2:00 like the Focus The dash door or compartment or whatever its called. That door on the top of the dash for sunglasses etc.. Great idea, but the door doesn't sit flush with the dash, sits down maybe 3/16 inch in the back. Don't know if its adjustable, will check with the dealer, but looks to be poor fit. Here's one I just found this morning. The Coat hooks in the back need to be re-designed. I have an event tonight, brought a change of clothes with a jacket. The hanger fell off the coat hook on the drive in. I thought I just didn't hang it well so I put it back up. A.little while later , it fell off again. I am a moderately aggressive driver, but I never had this problem with my Focus The bottle holders in the door are ok, but I got used to the ones in the Focus and it would be nicer if they could hold something upright instead of at an angle, especially since the center console holders are in direct line with the shifter making the front cupholder useless for a decent sized drink. What is that slot thing in the glove box to the right of the big compartment. The only thing I can think of is a Map pocket. If they would/could make it a little bit bigger the owners manual would fit in there and it would leave the rest of the glovebox open for all the junk I carry. Always liked the mini glovebox/cd storage to the left of the steering wheel. On my Mystique it was just big enough for a cell phone, on the Focus it was for CD's. I wish the Fusion had some storage there too.
fordktpjoe
On newer Auto trannies, yanking the stick into "L" at 50 MPH is not SUPPOSED to do anything. Theoretically, the newer, electronically controlled transmissions are actually smarter than their drivers are! They "know" not to downshift to "L" at 50! Now, having said that, I will say this, I sure as hell ain't gonna TEST that theory in MY Fusion!
scottyspics
On the sel versions i have saw they have the shiny black trim along the dash but mine which is the 2.3 SE doesn't have that. It almost looks like it is missing something..i think it should be trimmed in the carbon fiber look along the dash the same as around the stereo
fordktpjoe
I have the SEL with the "Piano Black" Trim.....I don't like it. Don't get me wrong, I think it's beautiful, but it shows every single speck of dust that gets on it, wipe it off, and three seconds later it's dirty again. I am looking at one of those woodgrain stick on kits I have been seeing.
Sk8ermaiden
I think the seats are really uncomfortable and hard. My other complaint is that the panel around the radio looks so cheap! The black/grey pattern shiny plastic crap is my biggest aesthetic complaint. The console is too far back. I wish it was shorter and closer to the front so it could function as an arm rest. Also, maybe it's just me, but in my Taurus, I'm used to much more effective cupholders. These are useless! I am a Diet Coke addict, and generally have a 34 or 44 oz (or two) in my car. In my Taurus I could put both in and all the other aspects of the car remained functional. In my fusion, two 34 oz drinks will not even fit in the cupholders. If I put anything larger than a 12 oz can in the second cupholder, I can't get into the console. I hate it!

biggestchris
What size speakers do they use now? I agree that sound systems should be easily upgradable. Ford is using 5x7 speakers in the front and rear doors. Personally, I think they should take advantage of the 6x9 holes in the rear deck and actually put speakers there. The stock speakers in the back doors are a waste because all they do is play into the back seat. I actually installed 6x9 speakers in the rear deck and cut the panel and made some speaker covers. The sound is more balanced now and has a little more mid bass. The only downside is you have to tap into the rear speaker wires and run new wires back to the rear deck. It's not that hard to do though.
