stlcardinal9
Im looking to buy a 2010 sport with the moon and tune package. The dealer is being tight and wont come off of a price of 26333 and tells me that is invoice!!! YEAH RIGHT. I have done a lot of research online and it seems that invoice is around 24k. This is my first new car purchase I knew car sales men were tricky before I started this process but I am worn out after talking to 3 different dealerships.. None of them will budge off the price. Any tips from experienced buyers? And what did you pay for your 2010 sport? thanks

Any tips from experienced buyers? And what did you pay for your 2010 sport? thanks Hi stlcardinal. :D We can tell you this much: According to Edmunds, the MSRP of that vehicle (a 401A FWD "Moon and Tune" Fusion Sport), including the $725 Destination Charge, would be $28,755. Edmunds also shows a Factory invoice Price of $26,416, and that does not include some fees and charges that Edmunds does not have access to. And Edmunds also shows a "What others are paying" price of $26,671 So you are realistically looking at a Factory Invoice Price of over $26,500-$26,600. Then you would subtract any Factory Incentives that you might qualify for in your area. We can not know what those Incentives currently are in your area. But even a $2,000 Incentive would only get you down to the $24,600+ range. Bottom line if we are using the proper definition of "Factory Invoice Price", it would be nowhere near as low as $24,000. Hope this information helps. Good luck. :beerchug:

And for the dealer to only come down 1100 bucks I feel like they can go lower but they wont. I offered them 24k to see if they would at least say no but we will do 25k and they wont budge off their price. And the problem I am having is there are 7 Ford dealerships in my area all owned by the same guy so there is no competition for them.
pcsgrp35se
I got a x-plan pin from someone on the blueoval forums site and also got $1500 incentive last april when I got my sport. Mine is totally loaded, only thing not on it is the navagation system. I recall mine being someplace around $26k with the xplan. No haggle just walk into the dealer find out if they honor the xplan and they give you the price then add delivery. I like to haggle with dealers but this wasn't necessary. They also treated me very nicely.

And if there was, you should contact your Dealer for a refund. The X-Plan Price already includes all Dealer added Fees and Charges (including "Delivery", "Freight", "Dealer Prep" etc.) except for a $75 maximum "Documentation Fee". So other than that $75 max "Doc Fee", no one should see a separate line item charge for "Delivery" or any other such Dealer added fees on their Purchase Contract. Essentially, an X-Plan purchase transaction should include only the X-Plan Price, (listed right on the Factory Invoice, which the Dealer must show and give a copy of to you), + a $75 maximum "Documentation Fee", + State/Local Taxes, + Title/Registration (only what the actual State Fees are, no added Dealer profit), - any Incentives the customer qualifies for. Absolutely no other Dealer added fees or charges allowed on X-Plan sales (unless it is for parts or service, like an ESP Plan or Dealer added options that you previously agreed to), Hope this information helps. Good luck. :beerchug: Edited April 21, 2010 by bbf2530
Crimson Blades
Hi, I just bought a 2010 Sport with the 402A pkg, FWD and Floor mats. I got the X-plan price and the dealer bought my 2008 edge out of my lease early and gave me $500 for it. They also threw in factory remote start. I think the MSRP was about $30,300. After X-plan, incentives and the $500 for my edge the price was about $24,300. I hope this helps you negotiate. Good Luck, Steve

Moosehead
I paid basically MSRP -500, and with only the widely advertised rebates that were on at the time. But they overpaid by several thousands on my crappy Chevy trade-in, right during the time when GM's bankruptcy was all over the news. They'll move the numbers around any number of ways to get to the same net cost.
Deathlok
Included in my $30,000 was 5 years free oil changes and dark tint on the back side windows and rear window. (Yes, I know front side and windshield is illegal to tint!)

marshman
I just bought the same type Fusion you are thinking about my total price was 24,800 ,you sound a lot different than me , if I like the car and I know I want it,I make an offer after their first visit to the desk and bring me their first deal , I make a take it or leave it offer , hasn't failed me yet My first advice is to pay with cash (check). I don't mean bring a large stash of $100s into the dealership. You have the most leverage this way. If you can't afford to pay with cash, then maybe you don't need that car. Anyway, that's a different topic. The next thing I found to be really helpful is to be patient and realize if you don't get the deal you would like, there is always another car. After the long waits at the dealerships negotiating, I have moved to email transactions. My Fusion Sport purchase was decided via email. I went in and wrote a check and drove away. I didn't have to wait for the salesman to go talk to his manager, etc, etc, etc. Another thing that is helpful is decide the bottom line of what you are willing to pay. The way I look at it is that I don't care if they want to call something a "docking fee," "tax," or whatever, I am willing to pay X dollars and they can write it up how they want to. Just talk walk out price. Sounds like you have already purchased but perhaps this will help someone in the future. The moon and tune wasn't a must but it happened to be in the car that I bought and I'm so glad now that I have it.
dkifusionsport
I noted one of the above posters purchased an extended warranty. It is a huge waste of money to purchase an extended warranty on a new car. It duplicates the manufacturer's warranty for the first 36,000 miles / 3 years, so you are paying for coverage for those miles/years that you already have and don't need to duplicate. Moreover, if you are financing your purchase, you are paying interest on, say, a thousand dollars of principal that went for a worthlless purchase. There is typically a 100% markup on extended warranties, so finance managers love to sell them with scare stories about all the complex and expensive electronic bells and whistles that can fail. Fine. When the manufacturer's warranty expires, then buy an extended warranty. But not until.

Fine. When the manufacturer's warranty expires, then buy an extended warranty. But not until. The warranties only make sense if you feel you couldn't afford to take the hit of a major unexpected repair. Some would argue you should perhaps have considered a less expensive car in that situation. I agree you always lose (the only way you feel good about an extended warranty is when your car turns out to be full of issues...what a cause to celebrate!) One thing though is that it does make repairs hassle-free, without having to worry about a mechanic running up your bill. So I got one after the guy gave me a couple of token discounts and justified it to myself that way It gave me a free rental for an issue covered by the standard warranty, which apparently I wouldn't have normally received. It should more correctly be called an 'insurance policy' because that's basically how it works. Even worse are the ones at stores that are like $40 for a warranty on a blender.

MLBGTP
Hi, 2011 Ford Fusion Sport FWD $24,999 with moon and tune package is what I paid before TTL. They also gave me 2 year roadside in addition to the 5 year roadside, 5 year protection on tires and wheels they will replace free if anything happens to any.. 2 years worth of free oil changes, doubled my warranty to 100k miles bumper to bumper and a couple other things I can't remember as of now. MikeTempesta
Certified Pre Owned 2010 Fusion Sport AWD 402A package (BLIS, heated seats, dual comfort zones, etc) 33,000 miles $21,650 Just brought it home yesterday! :D The car was a Ford Motor Company fleet vehicle, so before I owned it was made by Ford, owned by Ford. I qualified for the 1.9% APR so I financed the whole thing. I'm real happy with the car and price, however as I only have 3,000 miles left on the base warranty, I really need to comb through the vehicle to ensure everything works. Lesson learned: My previous car (1999 Passat) had heated seats, but the drivers side was busted. Unfortunately, I didn't bother to check till I needed them (bought car in July), and by then the used car warranty had expired.
pkvir
One thing I find interesting is how the base price has gone up. The base price on my window sticker is $25,825 and the MSRP with 401A and RSS is $27,740. I just built one on the Ford website and the same car has a base price of $27,150 and a MSRP of $29,235. But it sounds like the deals are about the same. I paid $24,603 before TTL in 09/09. Edited May 21, 2011 by pkvir
