I'd rather have a Buick Regal.

The tranny in my Milan is already causing problems and slamming into 3rd occasionally and the car (with less then 2000 miles) is already days in the dealers shop. Therefore, no I wouldnit replace it with a Ford Fusion either. If I had to get another Ford, it would likely be another new Escape V6 - 4WD. But if I really had a choice, I would definitely go with a GM. Just being honest..

You do understand that GM uses the same transmission, right? It was a joint venture between GM and Ford.

Yea, (not sure I believe you) but with GM's much better warranty, I won't have to worry about it. Remember my car is a Company lease that I get to buy out after roughly 3 years at greatly reduced cost equaling about 35% of trade in value. That's why I upgraded the car to begin with some what. But who wants the car if it's got a bad tranny and no warranty when I get it?

The GM warranty statement says allot about their cars. Ford's 3/36 also speaks volumes. It says 'good luck!!"

If you drive more than 12,000 miles per year the warranties are IDENTICAL.

If Ford's 3/36 speaks volumes, then what does GM's 3/36 say?

Bumper to bumper:

Ford 3/36

GM 3/36

Powertrain

Ford 5/60

GM 5/100

The only way to get more warranty coverage out of a GM product is to drive less than 12,000 miles per year. Otherwise you hit the 5 year mark before you hit the 100K mileage limit.

The GM "better warranty" is all smoke and mirrors and not applicable to 90% of the drivers.

I came to Ford after 3 GM vehicles. I do not want to diss GM but I sure hope they upped their quality with the Regal. My experience with GM products is that they were cars that were superbly designed and engineered, but produced by bean counters.

I loved every GM as I drove it out of the dealer's lot, but then grew to hate it during ownership for the many problems that it had due to cheap components. I only returned to GM because they had competitive financing. Now that Ford took the lead in that aspect, I decided to try my luck here.

The Regal is an Opel product so if you go there, just hope that GM did not massacre it in the transformation. Good luck.

I like my new Milan, I honestly do. I just hope the transmission shifting problems I am having clear up. other then that, the only improvement I would have liked are more comfortable padded seats. I'll likely be buying this car out after the lease is up in another 3 years. By then, the remake of the fusion should be availble and that may be of new interest to me at that time. As for the Buick regal, I just like the looks of the car and think that GM is on the come back trail with similar cars.
