u0061914
Hi all, I'm new to this forum and new to the Ford Fusion as of Mid last week. I actually swore off Ford products about 8 years ago due to constant quality problems ( My wife worked for Ford for 20+ years). Last winter, we decided to give it a try again, so we bought an Edge. Great vehicle so far. Last week I traded in my 08 Mazda6 for a Fision SE 2.5l, 6 spd auto. Right from the start, I noticed that there was faint, but still annoying noise from the front end. Most noticeable from 50 - 75 MPH, especially when on a smooth road ( no expansion joints to cancel the noise). The best way to describe it is like faint howl, but at times I can hear a thumpity, thump type noise. It does sound somewhat similar to the sound you hear if your tires were cupped. It is not terribly loud, but just enough to drive me nuts! I have a friend who bought the exact same car 2 weeks ago, and his does not do this. I have the car at the dealer not getting this looked at. in the morning yeasterday, the service manager called me and said they do hear the noise and would start looking for the issue. Last night he called back and said they can not find anything wrong and that it is likely the fact that the tires "flat spotted" due to sitting in the lot for an extended period. he also said it may take 2000-3000 miles for the flat spot to go away. I have owned numerous cars and I have never run into this. I did have a car once with a bearing in the rear that was a bit rough, which also made a similar sound. I left him a message this morning asking, that at a mnimum to rebalance the tires. Any ideas? very frustrating to mave an issue immediately after buying a car. Thanks in advance
