Your opinion of the "Sport" so far

I will start with my own opinion, I bought my Sport last October, I needed a commuter that would be good on gas but still fun. Got 5K on it now, I drive it very hard on the highway, NO manual shifting, burnouts, or that type of abuse .. and so far I am pretty happy. It gets full synthetic oil every 2000 miles, and it is always up to temp. before I get into it. Only things I would have liked more from Ford, would be a functional exhaust (stock is pathetic), bigger brakes, and more rear end control (larger rear bar, and a lttle stiffer spring rate). Upgrades I will do soon include the Magnaflow exhaust, lower it 2", front brake upgrade, and a larger rear bar (probably Steeda but they want me to give them the stock Sport measurement) Seems like something in the shifting has changed in the past week, more noticable, (especially off the throttle when it is slowing down at higher speeds) hard to describe, not slippage. This car tightened up and lowered will be awesome at high speed. I can get 32 mpg highway driving normal, or as low as 14 mpg highway driving "sporty". I am a race engine & car builder and I have owned 50 cars myself, I really enjoy this car ! Want to hear more from everyone here....

32 mpg highway? Is that average mpg for a full tank, or just what shows on the vehicle's display as you are driving? I've never gotten anywhere close to that as an average. Are you running the A/C?

I've had my Fusion Sport for just over 7 months. It's a fun car to drive! It's got a great look!

32 mpg is pretty much best case highway at 65-70 mph, depending on highway hills of course. I get around 27 mpg at 80 mph and 24-25 mpg at 90 mph, has been as low as 14.5 mpg in other conditions, and yes I use the A/C (dosen't seem to hurt it much at all if your driving easy). I don't consider the oil changes a waste of money, I could go to 3000 miles but the oil is played out by that point .... cheap insurance. I haven't seen another Sport once on the road, that is strange..

Sorry, but I still don't understand where you are seeing 32 mpg. If you see 32 mpg on the vehicle display at times, then, sure, I believe that. I can make that happen in my Sport. Otherwise, I don't see how you are getting that kind of mpg on a full tank of gas. The best I've seen is 24.3 mpg after refueling 14.95 gallons.

Is anyone else seeing the kind of mpg that Speedmaster reports in their Sport?

I peak at 32.7 MPG on highway without traffic. See more of a 26-28 MPG avg 22 with stop and go traffic.

Sure, I can get the computer to read 32 mpg after a fill up and get on the highway, but I have never done highway only driving for the whole tank.

I would be very happy if I could get 22 mpg with stop and go driving, I guess I got a mpg lemon.

I have loved my Sport so far. I bought it in late Dec 2009. I am around 9k miles right now. I am getting 24-26 mpg on my normal commute. I got 28 mpg on the one tank that was used entirely on the interstate. FYI - the Magnaflow exhaust for the 3.0 will fit our vehicles with very minor modifications! :happy feet: The binders are VERY tight on mine. Anytime I drive a different vehicle and get back into mine it takes me a couple of stops to smooth myself back out. I haven't noticed any warpage or had any issues with mine at all. I too have been looking for some performance modifications to add, primarily a CAI.

So what does that Magnaflow exhaust do?

So what does that Magnaflow exhaust do?

What does any aftermarket exhaust do? It is a 2" exhaust with 4" tips. Increased flow with fewer restrictions, better sound, rated per Magnaflow for a 7HP increase. The benefits are increased when paired with a less restrictive intake. That way your engine can breathe in and breathe out more efficiently. I am getting better gas mileage now too. That could have as much to do with additional break in on the motor too, since the exhaust has been on it since right at 1500 miles.

I only have a few thousand miles myself, but really enjoy this car. Amazed that there are not more on the road???

I'm going to elaborate on my original post.

* The sport seems much faster using 89 octane.

* The CD player went flaky on me recently, might need to be replaced??

* Handling could be a bit better, but still decent.

* The car seems much quicker using the select shift.

After 16 months and 18K miles I've had the Throttle position sensor replaced under warranty but everything else has been fine. I really enjoy this car. It is quiet and comfortable, great for long distance travel, handling is sure-footed and with AWD very secure. Performance is quite good. A great compromise for a sporty sedan.

I can average between 28 and 30 on the interstate at 65 mph. With the AC on. Around town around on 16 to 18.

I'm into abot 8 months and 10k on the clock. Still like it as much as I did the day I brought it home but have some issues. Sweek in the dash and a pop in the front end. I also hear a loud drown when the engine is hot on slight exceleration. I'm also getting a lot of tire were on the front. It's been aligned twice but is still has excessive wear on the outside. I would have rotated them but didn't because of the early tire wear. Had I rotated them I would be replacing all four instead of just the front. All this and I still love the car.

Have not had the service department look at the issues except the tire wear because they could always make it worse. It has a lot of bang for the buck.

Just a quick note on the mileage computer you have to reset it to get a true mileage reading for a longer trip.

That is an incredible waste of money. Glad you're enjoying it otherwise.

I'm just over 7000 miles on mine, and have no complaints thus far.

Your right about the waste of money part. It would seem that someone who has owned that many cars(racecars?) would get more mileage out of their money with a synthetic product! Besides, who can trust someone who says they don't do burn outs, manual shifts and the usual raggin' on it then turns around and says it needs MORE BRAKE, STIFFER REAR BAR,coffee can exhaust and so on?:redcard: PLEASE! By the way SpeedM -I'm glad you're enjoyin' it as well ! happy%20feet.gif I'm lovin' every manual shiftin' ,tire cryin' minute in mine!!!:shift: It may not pull a full G on the skidpad-but it'll sure pull a hard F'n turn :hysterical2: ! Life is fun with the traction control turned off!!!!

I have a 2010 AWD SPORT and I live in Germany. I drive a 200 mile trip on the weekend and I FLOOR IT. I do every bit of 126 @ around 4.3 K rpm. I get about 22 MPG. Thats pretty bad ass. No problems so far. I FREAKING LOVE THIS CAR. I smoke Audi A4's and BMW 3's up until it gets governed.

Bought my 2010 silver Sport AWD the end of July and absolutely LOVE IT!! Two issues that nagged me from the outset were 1)the ridiculously high ride height of the car, and 2) the amount of brake dust produced by the stock pads. I corrected both of these issues last week with a set of Steeda sport springs (lowered it about 1.5") and F&R Centric Ceramic brake pads. These two mods alone have totally transformed the car! It now looks and stops like a BMW 330 w/ a sport pkg and I have virtually no more brake dust on those beautiful rims. My next mods are installing the HID kit I bought from XenonDepot (low beams only b/c the highs are unbelievably hard to get to) and then some sort of an exhaust upgrade, for a throatier growl. Will be looking for advice here on this one. Don't know if I should just swap out the mufflers or do a complete overhaul with something from Steeda. But about the gas mileage, I cannot believe some of the high figures I've seen guys getting on here! I'm lucky if I get 15.5mpg around town. I have gotten low to mid 20's on the highway, but that's if I'm driving like gramps. I realize my lower mpg is due to the AWD, but its still supposed to be getting 17 city. I think they grossly overestimated it. Other than the mpg, I totally love this car. It has waay more tech features than my BMW had, or most other cars in its class for that matter, and it looks downright awesome. I love the rear sonar, BLIS, and camera as well as the sport-shift feature. It honestly shifts quicker than my BMW X3 did!! I highly recommend investing in a set of Steeda's springs...they transform the look and handling of the car!! It has no more of that goofy fenderwell gap and it doesn't dive and squat like it used to. I'll be posting some pics soon.

I agree with you on the gas mileage. In the winter I was getting 13-15 mpg - no better than my Pilot. (2 things in common AWD & 3.5 litre engine)

Only recently on a long trip to DC we get 24 - 25 mpg. Around town now it's 17 -18. I think it has gotten better as the engine got broken in.

That's strange, my situation is reversed. When I bought it I was getting 18mpg around town, now its down to 15. I don't know what to make of it. The car is fun to drive fast, so I'm hoping its my fault, that maybe I've been getting into the gas too much. I'm going to try and take it easy for a week and see what happens.
