Your opinion of the "Sport" so far

I bought mine Sept. 2009. Its silver with blue accent interior and FWD. I just hit 15,000 miles today. I love the car so far, my previous was an 02 Mustang GT and surprisingly I find the sport as quick as my Mustang was. It recently survived being side swiped by a semi getting on the highway on the exact day it turned 1 year old. Only fender, bumper, and rim damage ($2,100 to be exact). Thank god it was only rubbed by the big dually tires and the lugs cut my rims and tires on the passenger side. Only thing that sucks is that they didn't replace the passenger side wheels, only refinished them. And the refinished ones look awesome compared to the stock, almost a polished gunmetal silver. I plan on bringing it back to the shop and having the other 2 matched. I've had stalling probelms here and there, but can't seem to trace where it comes from - posted in another topic. I've been contemplating trading it in for the 2011 SHO and almost did this past summer, but I'm holding out to see what the 2012 Sport will have. I get about 22.7 avg mpg per tank without the a/c on and about 20.7 with. I only use the select shift here and there. I go about 5k per oil change with synthetic. I overall love the car a lot and would reccommend it to others. It's a great deal for the money. My only regret is that I didn't get the nav for the simple fact it has the back up camera, as we know that back window is hard to see out of at times. It's completely stock, if I do decide to keep it past next spring I plan on doing a Steeda spring kit to eliminate the fender gap. Hopefully by then they will have made some sort of induction mods too.

I bought a 2010 sport blue with blue leather and awd early this summer and I have 9000 miles on it. This car had me from the first one I test drove last November. My best highway mileage for a 250 mile trip was 31 but I set the cruise at 65 and didnt stop at all. I average 24-25 on the highway running mid 80s for speed. 19-20 in town. My mileage figures are not much different than my wife's 09 pilot either. She can actually do better than I do in town periodically. I have had zero issues with the car so far. I replaced the original oil with mobil1 and will change it every 7000 miles as 90% of my miles are on the highway. I'd like quicker shifts but overall this car is an awesome compromise between practicality and fun. I am more than satisfied with the performance. The difference between awd and fwd is incredible in the handling department. I'll give up a couple mpgs for the smiles in the corners. I travel between 400 and 800 miles per week for work. I might consider trading for a 3.5 ecoboost if it ever happens but until then this is the best weekly travel car i have owned yet.

Sorry, but I still don't understand where you are seeing 32 mpg. If you see 32 mpg on the vehicle display at times, then, sure, I believe that. I can make that happen in my Sport. Otherwise, I don't see how you are getting that kind of mpg on a full tank of gas. The best I've seen is 24.3 mpg after refueling 14.95 gallons.

Is anyone else seeing the kind of mpg that Speedmaster reports in their Sport?

I get pretty good MPG. I live in Germany and drive quite a bit on the Autobahn. On a long trip (Frankfurt to Vienna) I can average 28.5 - 29.2 mpg with the cruise control set at 85mph. Between the Autobahn and back roads (Back road speeds are allowed to go up to 100kph or 60 mph) I get a weekly combined average of 23.7 mpg, sometimes lower, sometimes higher. We get these sill little miles per gallon books at the PX, so I write the info down every tank of gas. the overall combined average after 11,523 miles is 24.2 mpg.

hope this helps.

I have a 2010 AWD SPORT and I live in Germany. I drive a 200 mile trip on the weekend and I FLOOR IT. I do every bit of 126 @ around 4.3 K rpm. I get about 22 MPG. Thats pretty bad ass. No problems so far. I FREAKING LOVE THIS CAR. I smoke Audi A4's and BMW 3's up until it gets governed.

Interesting,

I also live in Germany and have a 2010 fusion sport FWD. This is lighter and faster than the AWD. Wondering what size Audi and BMWs you are smoking. A buddy of mine has a 2009 AWD Audi A4 3.2, and its about the same. the BMW 330's I cant even compare my car with. I love my sport, but the turbo on the BMW 330 is too much for the 3.5. Plus the Fuison is much heavier than they are.

I have owned a BMW M3 with 400+ hp, and a 2008 Mustang GT with lots of engine work, but honestly the European car are built to run differently. Fords are much more reliable than German cars (From my experience), thats why I will always buy Ford from now on.

but the Fusion is fun and can compete with some German cars, just dont see my Sport Smoking the competition.

He is probably talking about the lesser BMW's, the 335 with the twin turbo will smoke the Sport. I have driven a 335 and have owned a IS 350, both will make the sport look silly. With that being said, I love my Fusion Sport; great car.

I have owned mine for 18 months now, time for new tires, on its 4th oil change, just about to hit 30K on it. I have seen 33 MPG highway on a tank, but that's rare as it takes a lot of concentration, and finding the right truck to get behind. I used to have a Prius and got 65 MPG in that, so applying that practice to the Sport can get me good MPG, but so far my lifetime average is 24 MPG. My only complaint, the drivers seat presses against my thigh in an uncomfortable way, so long trips can take its toll. The problems I have had with it are few, early on I warped the rotors, had too much fun with it, and they are not really made to be beat on, a set of good Brembos, or other performance disks and calipers would solve that. The Sync has had to be rebooted twice, then again, it is made by Monkeysoft. So, after 30K miles, the one problem I caused, the second is just an annoyance, but being that I work with microsoft products everyday, the reboot is just something I'm used to. :) My wife drives the car more than I do now, I have the Flex Ecoboost, which I enjoy immensely, and havent really driven the Sport now for months. Material wise, the car is holding up far better than the Camry did, no rattles, squeaks or clunks, except for the junk in the trunk from the wife. Seats still look like new, and the steering wheel has no signs of wear either, unlike the Camry, which had started to get rough from use, the seat cloth was thin, and it rattled and squeaked within 10k miles. Overall I am very satisfied with the Fusion Sport and will gladly buy another if I need to.

I am a Ford Dealer in Connecticut...I just bought a 2010 Fusion Sport AWD with 1200 miles on it at auction to drive as my demo for the next couple years till I can buy a new Focus ST...I replaced this car with my 2004 Focus SVT with 90k on it..I had that car modded out to about 230 hp and it was a blast to drive everyday....I have put about 300 miles on the car so far...gas mileage is about 17 right now but inching up slowing...I tend to drive around 80 all the time...I Love the size and all the toys in the car...especially the SYNC...I love the styling...I am not real impressed with the performance yet...I need to make some changes...I just ordered the Magnaflow exhaust and steeda intake cause I cant hear the car going down the road...I need to do some suspension work and try to tighten it up a bit...its alittle sloppy for handling..I also just bought the SCT X3 Tuning device...I need to remove the top speed limiter...I am dissappointed in the sound system...It has the 10 speaker sony system...I have started working on replacing all 10 speakers with new BA's and also build a new box for the truck for a pair of 10 inch subs to go in...the hard part is to get it to all work with the ford navigation radio...I figure I will need at least 3 new amps..but when its all done it should be crystal clear even at the max volume with some good thump in the bass...I have been looking for an Off Road Pipes so I can remove the CATS and pick up some additional power...so far no luck..may have to have some custom pipes made. When I get it all modded the way I want I will repost with the changes in my opinion....

A little over a month here on our 2011 Red Candy Sport (named FRed).

About 300 miles. Love it!

Much better than our 2008 Fusion SE.

Would love a bit more power and more growl, exhaust note. It's just too quiet.

Other than than, life is good!! Can't wait till spring to shine it up and start driving it!!!

Hi - this is my first-ever post.

I traded my 2006 Mustang GT for a platinum white Fusion Sport this past December. The Mustang had Roush suspension, 20" Shelby Razors, and a few engine mods. It handled like a slot car but was a tough commute. My 8-year old twins loved the Mustang but hated getting in the back seat.

Other than sheer acceleration, the Sport is a better car in every way. The ride is comfortable (could be a little firmer), and the interior is tomb-quiet. The steering wheel controls are a blessing in Dallas traffic, and the Sync has to be one of the greatest inventions ever. The twins approved the trade as soon as the salesman showed them the multi-colored interior lighting and the back-up camera.

I have about 2300 total miles, and so far I have gotten 21.5 - 22 on my daily commute. 23 of my 28 mile commute are highway, but in Dallas rush hour those are rarely cruising miles. I hope to take a road trip soon and see what it will do in the highway.

Noob here! My first post. Thought this would be a good place to introduce myself as I just ordered a 2011 Fusion Sport FWD in Blue Flame with blue accent interior. I drove the 4 cyl SEL, 3.0 SEL, and then the 3.5 Sport and WOW...I fell in love with the Sport instantly! They didn't have one in the color I wanted so they had to get it from a dealer 200 miles away but its worth the wait. Love the blue flame and the two-tone interior looks awesome in the pictures.

We've already named her Oliva and can't wait to add her to our family! I'm ordering an HID kit right now (probably going with DDM for their warranty) and getting the windows tinted right away (20%)...should make her look even sexier! :-) I also may want to eventually get a cat-back kit (I see Magnaflow makes one!) Don't want to get too carried away quite yet!

I'm going from a 2004 Civic Hybrid that I am bored with and is slow as poo. Its also been somewhat unreliable and has MANY quirks that annoy the crap out of me. I'm done with Hondas! Their quality has gone way down IMO. My wife's 98 Accord is pretty bulletproof so we will keep it til it dies, but I'm getting out of this Civic while its still worth a little money. I'm going back to Blue Oval as their reputation and quality seems to be the best out there now.

I commute a long way to work (~90 miles round trip a day) so I will have to get used to using more fuel since the Civic did only one thing well...sipping fuel (got 40-50 mpg avg). It'll be worth it to have all these features this car has and ohhhh the power!

I have a 94 GT Mustang as my toy since high school and this is the first "performance" car I've gotten since then. Mustang isn't very comfortable, though....I can't wait to get my Fusion!!!

How would you rate the 3.0 vs the 4 and the 3.0 vs the 3.5??

With gas prices going up, I see in the 2011 catalog that the 3.0 gets 2 mpg better than the 3.5 and only 2 mpg less than the 4.

Makes me think of getting an SE or SEL with the 3.0 and still get good pickup.

My opinion is just from a test drive of all three (SEL 4-cyl, SEL 3.0 V6, and Sport 3.5). All were FWD versions.

The 4-cyl was adequate, but I felt it would have troubles when traveling in hills and with cargo such as bike racks and people loaded up (which I do a lot of). A big weakness of my Civic Hybrid (super dogg!). The 3.0 had good power but the 3.5 Sport had an amazing difference in power (plus I was driving in the rain and the cars weren't even broken in yet). I concentrate on the highway mileage since I drive mostly highway, and the 3.5L was only one less MPG than the 3.0 on the highway. Plus the price difference of an equally equipped SEL 3.0 to the Sport I ended up buying was something like $700 which I thought it was worth the extra money for the features and larger engine.

So I think comparing them depends on what you plan to use them for. If you drive combo city/highway and don't haul a lot, the 4-cyl would probably be good. Since the 4-cyl has a big jump in MPG, if that is your main concern I'd go with the 4cyl. It also depends on how you like to drive, though. I'm used to 4cyl slow cars so I could have lived with the 4-cyl, but I wanted a car with more "fun" factor to drive everyday....hey life is short! :-)

Sorry but no. The dealer told me that when I got it. Supposively you can de-activate it by some wierd process. Ford has been doing it the last couple of years from what the guy said. Like the Shelby GT500 he said you can get in one with low miles, just say like 100 or so, and run the car to death and the wastegate on the blower won't allow it to boost over like 5 psi. Same with new f150's and other trucks... when you go to tow something and you hit the "tow" button, for the first 1000 miles it will not allow you to put it into tow mode. The tech said on the Fusion that it may be either 1000 miles or 2500. All it does really is knock the power back a little or just doesnt give you 100% performance.

Forgot... you may be able to search it on F150Forums for more info.

My 1st post since the intro thread :

I was told my 07 GT500 was set for full boost after 5 consecutive miles w/o shutting off engine or after 50 starts. This is so the guys hauling them wouldn't have "too" much fun. Would love to know if this is true in a normally aspirated new car. BTW : 1300 miles on car got a solid 25mpg on 100% highway trip of 350 plus miles. 55-75 mph.

possibly. my buddy owns an autobody shop, and he was fixing a 2010 'vette last year. 6 miles on it. guess who wrecked it...?

the kid who washes cars at the dealership, 1/2 mile up the road. :hysterical2:

I've had my 2011 Fusion sport for a little over a month and I'm starting to love it. Gas for my Expedition was killing me I drive about 175 miles a day so I traded it in on my Fusion. My wife works for Ford so I could up grade and still come in under $25,000.00. I'm getting about 7 miles to the gal more some where around 22-23 mpg the exped was getting about 16-17 give or take. I can say it's a fun car to drive the only thing i would like is a little more exhaust sound. Mods will come soon i have to reload the bank acct. I just put a new motor in my daughters 96 gt mustang. Was mine but she's a good kid and it was sitting so it went to her. Only bad thing is it's a tangerine orange less than 600 made.
