Is there anything you miss from your previous car that your Fusion does not have? Anything you don't miss? Anything you couldn't live w/out that your Fusion has that no other car had? I went from a 2003 Audi A6 2.7Ltwin Turbo. What I miss: Head room, Folding exterior mirrors, power, one touch up/down windows all around What I don't miss: 91 Octane, -20MPG w/cruise set at 65, $100 oil changes, What I won't be able to live w/out in the future: Back up sensor, Sync (or something similar) I went w/a 2.5l 4 cylindar car so I could get better gas milage. In a car w/a smaller gas tank, I am getting more miles per tank at $.20 cheaper a gallon over my Audi. I don't miss the leather seating, I've always thought leather was overrated. redfire06 Posted July 14, 2010 Share Posted July 14, 2010 (edited) i had a 1989 toyota cressida! the most indestructible car i ever owned (ties with my old volvo and bmw both of which had 220+k) it was a great car really, the only thing i miss is the heated seats. i got a well packaged fusion leather, sunroof 6 disc. all that (basically the top SE trim car) which my cressida had all of. i do enjoy the FWD the toyota was a giant piglet in the snow. overall i love my fusion just hit 90k yesterday and all i've invested into it is 2 sets of brakes a set of tires and front wheel bearings (recently) and she just keeps on truckin! SE Owner Posted July 14, 2010 Share Posted July 14, 2010 I sold a 2000 Acura 1.6EL. A Canadian only vehicle similar to a Honda Civic. So far I am liking my 2010 SE I4 Auto. It is the first auto I have had in a while but seems to be performing well and the fuel mileage is great. I think that the Hubcaps on the SE look like Aluminum wheels but will be cheaper to replace if my wife has to drive the car. What I miss: Trip computer with both instant fuel economy and fuel economy since last reset. It was fun to see it hit 99 MPG when I would coast. I also miss having seats made out of real cloth rather than that canvas-feeling garbage the Fusion has. What I don't miss: Just about everything else, especially that crappy 41TE automatic and the front cupholders that were practically unusable because of the placement under the center stack beneath the radio. I still drive my '94 Honda Accord wagon (240.000 miles so far). But I bought a 2010 SEL V6 AWD w/Moon and Tune (my first automatic since a '72 Pinto, my first 6-cylinder since a '64 Rambler American) What I still like about my Honda:: -5-speed manual -lockable glove box -better quality plastics -hauling capacity -28 mpg city -Honda handling and zippiness (I hesitate to call it "zoom-zoom") -no major repairs whatsoever What I like about my Fusion by comparison: -automatic transmission in bumper-to-bumper New York traffic -technology (although Sync needs some fixes- not as smooth as the current offerings from other auto manufacturers) -AWD -more airbags 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Chevy Guy Posted July 14, 2010 Share Posted July 14, 2010 Traded in my 2000 3.1L Malibu for my new 2010 3.0L Fusion SEL. What I miss about the Malibu? The head room (didn't knock my hat off every time I got in... unlike the Fusion). The ignition switch in the dash. The block heater. What I don't miss? Piston slap every cold start. Weak A/C. Right-rear quarter panel rust spot - repaired twice, came back a third. Water in every light assembly. Oil filter in a user-unfriendly spot. What I can't live without in the Fusion now? Sync... nuff said. Alloy rims. Electric seats. Auto dual climate control. Keyless entry. Traction control. All in all, the Malibu was a great car that served me well and reliably for 10 years. The Fusion is a technological giant step forward and I only hope that it proves to be as great a car as the 'bu in the long run. Bought the Fusion for the wife to drive every day, and I took over her old car, a 2004 hyundai Elantra GT. But it did allow me to stop driving my 2001 Mustang Bullitt every day. Not that that is a bad thing, but I was worried that one day I was going to be really greassy and nasty and ruin a beautiful car. I did drive the Bullitt this past weekend, since there was no rain, and boy what fun! As for what we love, is the room. We have a 13 year old that has already reached 6', and a 5 year old. The Elantra was too cramped for a family car, so now, we are fine. Last company car was a 2005 V70R (my wife still has her 2004 V70R). I do miss the power and AWD of the R but little else. I enjoy the seats, mileage on regular gas, and quietness of the Sport. I actually loved the Five Hundred....but hated the Taurus makeover. Now, the new Taurus I love. All and all, I love my fusion. Mine's a 2009 so pretty much all of the growing pains/bugs were ironed out. As for my next vehicle, we'll have to wait and see. I did it originally to gain rear seat room for my kids cause Mazda3's overall suck for rear seat room. What I miss: The turbo and ability to pass at will The tight suspension The 6 speed manual The Bose sound system What I don't miss: The glorified rear seat. 91 octane fuel manual driver's seat lack of bluetooth I'm pretty sure the big things for me are the extra room and the Sync. We needed something bigger since my 86 year old mother-in-law lives with us and 3 adults with luggage was very cramped. What I miss about the Corolla - The automatic headlights / daytime running lights - The outside temperature readout in the dash - The maneuverability, especially parking - 80,000 trouble-free miles of driving What I don't miss about the Corolla - automatic transmission - non-telescoping steering wheel - mediocre gas mileage (the Fusion is getting almost the same MPG as the Corolla, especially highway) - no sync, especially the phone bluetooth feature - small trunk / interior - lack of side / curtain airbags - no ABS Of course, the 2011 Fusion SE has automatic headlights. chitown Posted July 29, 2010 Share Posted July 29, 2010 (edited) Just picked up my 2010 SEL 3.0 last night! :happy feet: I didn't part with anything...been driving my wife's CRV (great vehicle BTW...unlike the Accord, Honda still does that one right). Last car I owned was a 1991 Camry that I unloaded a couple of years ago, that I had kept around as a city beater until I opted for a motorcycle. Great car for its time...probably one of the most bulletproof vehicles ever made, frankly. But yeah, this is a big upgrade and the first truly new car I've ever bought for myself. It was between this and an '08 G35x...which goes to show how highly I regard the Fusion. So I guess I'll rate the old Camry here... What I miss: -Having a car I could beat around without fear -The sentimental attachment -Smoothest 4-banger I've ever driven. Ever. Would be too small for the bloat of today's Camry, though. -Special note: Toyota should just bring this Camry back. It was the best one ever. If I had a massive garage and cash to burn, I'd buy another just to have it around. I liked the Fusion a lot, and I am a big Ford fan. Plus, I'm a Ford investor. What I miss: there's one main thing, and that's that the Z4M was a head-turner. I miss the attention I got from many, many people on the road. The other thing would be the power. What I miss the ride - especially notice it on twisty roads. car payments - the cobalt was paid for and overall didnt have any major issues to speak of. What I dont miss Interior quality - cheap plastics. my fusion is leagues ahead in terms of the quality of the materials used. I knew about this when I bought the car but nonetheless thats one area GM should have done better. Harsh highway ride - I drive on the highway a lot and the hard suspension was a trade-off. The fusion seems to be a nice compromise between harsh ride and handling. size - cobalt was tight fit for 4 adults. better safety having to fill up mid-grade or better gas. 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I briefly considered buying it but for less money than GMAC wanted for the truck I wisely chose to purchase a fully loaded 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid. What I miss at times is the ability to carry four or more adults comfortably for a long period of time...the Suburban could seat seven if needed and still had plenty of cargo room. Of course I will miss the 4-wheel-drive capability in the winter...wish the Fusion Hybrid was available in AWD. The Suburban also sat higher, not only providing a better view, but I never worried about scraping the wheel rims on curbs or damaging the lower edge of the front bumper cover on concrete parking lot stops. What I don't miss is having to take out a personal loan every time I had to fill the Suburban's 31-gallon fuel tank which was about once every ten days. When gas prices were pushing close to $5, a refueling stop was almost as painful as visiting a dentist. Now I refuel the FFH once every three weeks for much less money! Also, I am able to wash and dry the Fusion in record time! I no longer need to set-up a step ladder each time; worry about the ladder shifting, falling off and getting hurt or worse yet, damaging the truck! Except for those pain in the butt Hybrid wheel rims, the Fusion is a breeze and a pleasure to clean. Overall, I'm happy with my decision to switch into a drastically different vehicle. Really for awhile there I wasn't sure I was ever going to get rid of it. I ended up leasing a 2010 Ford Fusion SE with Sun/Sync package. Love it. What I miss about the Accord: Sometimes leather, except on hot days. Responsiveness of throttle (Fusion still has more power) Honda No car payments Seeing those miles climb above 150k and knowing it still had plenty of miles left in it What I don't miss: Lack of warranty Always had some kind of brake or rotor issue (specific to my driving style I'm sure, still) Car with a lot of miles on it I'm the kind of guy who likes new stuff. I had been driving the Accord forever and it pained me a little bit to let it go only because I probably could have kept driving it for another 4-5 years, easy. But, when I went to the dealership I told them I wanted something comparable to what I had at the time, and I didn't want to pay an arm and a leg. I stopped into the dealership just to "look around" and they put me in the right car. And I love the look of the car. She had new tires and brakes and rotors, tint, Sirius, and was in pretty good shape. What I miss: Having a "who cares" attitude about dings and rock chips. No car payment What I don't miss: The fear of the next big breakdown/repair 26 MPG (the FFH now gets 39 regularly!!!) Turns out the integra was totaled previously and the car was worth nothing... Dumped that and here I am... Seems you chose the wrong model.
