midas
Im sorry to here that. Good luck to you. Hope you enjoy your fusion. Thank you. Sorry, didn't mean to be a downer. Just wanted to explain why I decided to buy the Fusion when I obviously prefer the Sonata. But I am enjoying the Fusion more than I thought I would.

UKXK189
I basically went from two cars to the Fusion Sport. Sold my 2001 Pontiac Trans AM in the summer of 2009, in an effort (at my wife's repetitive urging) to have something more practical as the father of 2 young children. Couldn't find anything I liked at a price range I liked, so I kept driving the 4 cyl 1996 Dodge Stratus. Finally decided on the Fusion this year after kid #3 arrived, so I traded in the Stratus. What I miss from the Stratus: Head room (I am 6'5", so my head constantly rubs against the roof of the Fusion if I don't "gangsta lean", I will be glad when the weather warms up so I can open the moonroof.) What I miss from the Trans AM: Head room (a family sedan with less headroom than an F-body?) , Raw power, T-tops, exhaust note, huge modding community, Third Shift Studios custom badges, poking fun at my Mustang owning friends "slow cars". What I don't miss from the Trans AM: 93 Octane fuel bills, $90+ oil changes, uncomfortable seats, wife complaining about money spent on mods. What I don't miss from the Stratus: Horribly underpowered 4cyl engine, exhaust note, lack of anti lock brakes, broken heater, drafty cabin. What I won't be able to live w/out in the future: Back up sensor, Sync (or something similar), decent power/performance.
linda_fordfusion12
We traded a 2003 Saturn SL200 with low mileage when we bought our Ford Fusion SE about 9 days ago. Today the salesman called us to ask us how everything was. if we liked the car, had any problems, etc. We said we loved the Fusion.. He told us that last Friday a porter at the Dealership bought our trade-in. His old car had broken down and he needed something ASAP. MadMerc
Finally parted with my 1999 Mercury Mystique. It was like going from the Stone Age to the Space Age. Love my Fusion!

JoeyToronto
Never had a car before this, always took transit here in Toronto and to be honest Ford wasn't my first choice, I actually was very reluctant to go with a Ford because I didn't want an American car. But prior to buying it i actually rented one for a couple of weeks and I liked it so I bought it. And I never looked back. Good Choice! Happy with it so far. Got it in July 2011 and have 9000 km's. So, almost 1000 km's a month.
ARFusion
I had a "hand-me-down" Ford Explorer Limited that was somewhat unique. Had some good times in that car... got all of the "stupid things" out of my system lol. The only mods I had were 8000K HIDs and a Pioneer Double-Din HU. Ran it just over 300,000 KMs (~186,000 Miles) until the Transmission died. I was driving on the highway and the car started smoking. It was a bittersweet day to see my Explorer go, but 3 days later I had a Fusion!
Fourman
Good thread. Very interesting to see all the different ways we got to our fusions. As for myself, the fusion is replacing my daily driver of the past 5 years, a 1999 pontiac grand prix GTP coupe. At one time it was my daily driver AND my hot rod, so it had several mods at one point. Ran a best of 13.001 in the 1/4, but my GTO with just a CAI eent 12.950 so the pointlessness of a modded GTP made itself quite obvious at that point. It was very good to me, but it was getting kinda old and i wanted to sell it before it lost all value. Things i miss: -supercharged torque -heads up display (dont understand how this isnt in every car today) -coupe style -steering feedback -braking and handling mods were CHEAP. -had the car exactly the way i wanted it appearance/mod-wise -no payments, cheap insurance/plates Things i will not miss: -horribly cheap 'leather' -in town gas mileage was around 18 for my commuting -girlfriend seat (you know, the one to the right!) didnt have a heater -only the center 1/3 of the rear seat folded down for large items in the trunk -13 year old and 159,000 mile GM build quality and wear -premium fuel requirement in a car that i dont use to go fast anymore -woefully inadequate headlights. I have HIDs, have them wired so that brights and fogs are on together, and i have never in 3 years of that swtup been flashed by an oncoming driver. Thats how crappy they are. Things i like so far about the fusion: -very stylish, and thats coming from a guy that has never had a sedan before partially due to looks -mileage. On my commute i am seeing 29mpg on the dash display. Surely that reads higher than actual, but DAMN! -87 octane... combined with the better mileage, great compound effect on operational costs -interior is worlds better than late-90s GM quality -smooth, quiet, comfortable ride -lots of buttons! (Even if i dont know what half of them do yet!) -full folding rear seat and a cavernous trunk. -first car ive ever owned that was the current body style of that model (obviously that ends this fall, but for now...) -headlights that go FOREVER compared to what i am used to. Much safer Things i dont like so far: -payments... but my credit union is pretty awesome and that combined with the deal i got on the car, quite liveable. -electric power steering doesnt have the same kind of feedback i am used to -stock brakes supposedly arent the greatest (203 feet from 70-0 according to C&D), but i havent had a panic stop yet to see. They feel fine for normal driving. -i prefer non-metallic black paint to the fusions metallic black, but the GTO has metallic as well so i am used to it I am very happy with my purchase and feel like it was a solid upgrade. I will be very sad to watch my GTP drive away when it sells, but the long-term benefits of the fusion should help ease the pain. The GTP is quicker than the fusion, but the fusion is just fine for daily driving. I have the GTO for when i want to go fast.
Lucas718
I traded in a 2008 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. Among the various issues it had were the hardtop panels filling with water, the fuel tank dumping gas back out when you filled it up, an EGR valve that locked up and needed to be replaced, a serious cylinder misfire that made the Jeep undrivable (it spent nearly 2 weeks at the dealer before they figured that out), it rattled, it shook, the shifter had a tendency to violently kick itself out of first gear, it started losing over a quart of oil every 1000 miles with no signs of any leaks. Pretty much all of this started happening in the past year. It was a fairly good vehicle for about 3 1/2 years. Now I'm rockin' an Ingot SIlver Sport with AWD and even though the gas mileage isn't great, it's still a few mpg better than that Jeep.
NateV
I parted with my beloved 2008 Chrysler 300 Limited to get the Fusion. Actually teared up a little when i took the key off my keyring. But it was just too hard on gas. $75 a week for fuel is just too much. I think right now what I miss most about the car was how roomy it was inside.

sawbuck44
2007 Chevy Impala LT Flex Fuel Imperial Blue Metallic Never got the flex fuel. Always thought I'd get engine trouble. Anyone use it? will miss 3.5L V6 won’t miss hiccups when taking off – engine seemed to skip then get going sound system (if you can call it that) intermediate steering shaft replaced twice. First at 8,000 mi second about 12,000mi – covered by warranty. rear wheel spindle rods replaced – fought to have chevy pay me SOMETHING for that repair and new tires. There was a TSB for this problem but listed affected cars as ‘police’ vehicles only. BUT my vin # was included in the vin list. bought car at 6,000 mi (dealer demo) and at 7,738 mi had to get rotors turned. Bought a 2012 Fusion SEL platinum white tri-coat black leather seats moon & tune package spoiler love it! AdamLawrenceSifodaskalakis
Nothing I was lucky enough to get my Fusion as my first car. I almost got stuck with a 2001 Windstar Sport, but my mother traded that towards her Edge. Then I almost got a 2004 Dodge Dakota, but I was too tall for it. I also almost got a 2003 Taurus that my grandmother doesn't use, a 1998(around there) Taurus station wagon my grandfather doesn't drive. I also looked at older Fusions and the 2008-09 Taurus, and the 2008 Escape, as well as several others (Avenger, RX-8, Tiburon, Mazda 3, Mazda 6) but I ultimately picked out my Fusion, and I am so glad that I did.

GhostRider
We went from this: 1999 Plymouth Breeze to this 2010 Ford Fusion SE We sold the Breeze to my friend's dad who couldnt afford much and wanted something better then his beat up Blazer to putz around in. He paid us $750 cash for it. We dont miss anything about the Breeze. My mother-in-law got it brand new then gave it to my then girlfriend (now wife) when she went to college. The 2.0L engine sucked and the car had all kinds of issues. We sold it with 133K on it. While the engine and transmission were ok, it was plagued with brake and suspension issues. Of course, now we have a car payment but its alright. Edited June 17, 2012 by GhostRider
