So, what car did you part with to get your Fusion?

I purchased a new 2010 Candly Apple Red Metallic Milan I-4 in late July and traded in a 1999 Mercury Mystique LS, which I purchased new in 1998. I had 310,000 troublefree miles on the Mystique, and wanted to stay in the Ford family. With 2010 supposedly being the last of the Mercuries, I thought it would be nice to have one of the last off the production line. This is my fourth Mercury and my tenth Ford product.

I love the build quality of the Milan, the gas mileage (currently averaging 34 MPG), and the features such as Sirrus, sunroof, and four-wheel disc brakes, as well as the overall luxuriousness. I also have Sync, but since I'm an "old guy" who doesn't use cell phones or i-pods, I would rather have gotten the remote start option and given up Sync, but it was bundled with the sunroof.

What I miss from my old Mystique is the "fun" of driving a smaller car with the punch of the 2.5 L Duratec V-6 engine. The Mystique was more of a sports sedan, whereas the Milan is more of a family sedan. I was torn between a Focus or Fusion/Milan, but I drive around 30,000 miles a year and wanted a bit more luxury than the Focus delivers. The Focus was a bit smaller than I wanted and the Fusion/Milan was a bit bigger than I wanted. With the amount of driving I do, gas mileage is important, and although I would have preferred the V-6, I felt the I-4 was the more sensible option.

All in all, with almost 4,000 on my Milan so far, I'm completely pleased with my purchase and glad I stayed with Ford rather than Honda or Toyota. GM or Chrysler weren't even considerations. I hope this Milan is as reliable and durable as my old Mystique, and I'm hoping for 300,000 or more miles out of this car.

Bet there aren't many like me who got rid of one kind of Merc to get another.

Parted with my Mercedes to get my Milan.

Sold my E Class sedan, a great car in its day, however I'm enjoying the mileage & FWD of the Milan.

Probably just as much HP with the 2.5L Ford engine as the 3.0L inline six in the Merc.

Don't miss the Mercedes at all.

Well, I haven't gotten my new Fusion yet but will be picking it up tomorrow. I'm seriously downsizing, trading in my 2007 F-150 Super Cab. It will be good to get into a nice car again.

What I will miss about my F-150:

Sitting up high.

Able to climb over a curb with ease.

Doing truck stuff.

What I won't miss:

12-14mpg, $280 per month in gas.

Parking the monstrosity.

The 47 foot turning radius.

Climbing into and practically having to fall out of the thing, I'm only 5'7".

Needing a step ladder to wash it.

I traded in a 2002 Audi A4 1.8T. It was the worst car I've ever owned, and I've owned alot. All sorts of little problems that I would not accept because I expected "german quality". German quality is a load of crap, and they are hella expensive to fix. Please don't ever buy a VW or Audi unless you have a ton of money to fix problems.

I'm enjoying my 2010 Fusion 2.5 SE AT because the heat and a/c work, and I can go through drive thru windows because my window actually works. Both cars are about the same size, about the same horsepower, both have good sounds systems (sync is better because of bluetooth - both have 6 disc in dash). cheaper monthly payment and better gas mileage with the Fusion.

Seems you chose the wrong model. Both the SEL and the Sport have automatic headlights and select shift ("manumatic" in other manufacturers' lingo).

yea, I was trying to stay in a pretty tight price range, so the SEL and Sport models were out of it. I would've loved to get a Sport if I could've. I couldn't get everything I wanted, but I got all of the major things at least (Sync, Sunroof, Appearance package)!

Got rid of 1999 Acura CL 3.0 with 90K - - tranny died and the info online indicated many owners who had gone thru multiple re-built trannys after the first - - not going there! Very happy with my Fusion SE. Just got back from a 2K mile trip and it was a pleasure on the road, with better than advertised mileage, quiet ride, and excellent passing power.

What I miss

* Sunroof / Moonroof

* Leather (chose not to get it on my Fusion)

What I don't miss

* Coupe body style

* Tiny back seat

* Small trunk

* Brake repair costs that were avoided when the tranny went out

Well, I didn't get rid of anything. Bought the Fusion for the wife to drive every day, and I took over her old car, a 2004 hyundai Elantra GT. But it did allow me to stop driving my 2001 Mustang Bullitt every day. Not that that is a bad thing, but I was worried that one day I was going to be really greassy and nasty and ruin a beautiful car.

Sounds like me! I needed a car to drive to work, being that my 99 Mustang GT has 192,000 miles! I drive 45 miles one way to work, 6 days a week. Anyway, I was going to buy a Fiesta, because I was looking for MPG's. But the Fusion SE was a better everywhere else except in MPG's, so we went for it. I now drive the wife's 07 Mitsu Galant to work, and she drives the Fusion. SHE LOVES IT. I get jealous because I wanted that car for me. Oh well, we love it. We recently got 30 MPG on the trip to Vegas (300 mi one way).

I am surprised by the diversity of vehicles left for the Fusion.

I had to drop mine off at the dealership last night for 2 recalls, an oil change, and 2 possible minor fixes. 1. the rear view mirror doesn't seem to auto tint and 2. the trim surrounding the windshield wipers has a bow in it and isn't flush against the windshield.

I'm leaving for my first road trip in it tomorrow, going to Vegas from San Diego. I'm very curious to see what kind of milage I'll be getting.

I traded an '05 Focus for my '10 Fusion SEL. Loved the Focus.... a real "tank" from a reliablity standpoint. It was crude and ugly, but like an old sneaker it was comfortable. Great car to leave at the airport, park in the city, don't bother locking..... just never needed much attention. That '05 has some of the best ergonomics and handling of any car I've owned. Anyways, the wife has the Fusion now and I have her hand-me-down '08 Focus.

Just curious what everyone was driving before they got their Fusion. Is there anything you miss from your previous car that your Fusion does not have? Anything you don't miss? Anything you couldn't live w/out that your Fusion has that no other car had?

I went from a 2003 Audi A6 2.7Ltwin Turbo.

What I miss: Head room, Folding exterior mirrors, power, one touch up/down windows all around

What I don't miss: 91 Octane, -20MPG w/cruise set at 65, $100 oil changes,

What I won't be able to live w/out in the future: Back up sensor, Sync (or something similar)

I went w/a 2.5l 4 cylindar car so I could get better gas milage. In a car w/a smaller gas tank, I am getting more miles per tank at $.20 cheaper a gallon over my Audi.

I don't miss the leather seating, I've always thought leather was overrated. One place it was helpful was the back seat w/the kids and their spilling crap, but the kids are not in my car all that often.

Traded a 2006 Grandprix GT Supercharged for a new Ford Fusion SEL AWD Tuxedo black on black Moon and tune

both cars had similar options and comfort,less power in the Fusion,But should be better in the snow with the AWD.

Im happy thus far with the Fusion,but only 400 miles on it.

Traded in a 2002 Grand Am. Thankfully it had been a good car to me; the only non-routine work it ever needed in 8 years was a rotor replacement and power window regulator about 3 months ago.

My new Fusion has the same exterior and interior colors, but it's a big step up in features. I'm hoping it'll age as well as my last car.

Hi!

Looking at buying a Fusion SEL next spring upon returning from a winter in Texas. Will be a 4 cyl/auto,, Moon roof. my wife's new car. Her 2000 Nissan Maxima that she got new has been very reliable but it is getting old. Will miss the sporty driving but not the premium fuel required. Required few parts but expensive.

The Fusion is sporty, great combination of "fun to drive" and comfort. One of the most reliable cars ! Has to be reliable because this will be a "ten years" car.

Remi

2009 GMC 2500HD

2004 Mazda Miata

Subaru WRX w/goodies-no longer my daily now that I have the new fusion (company car). Though I love the new Ford for it's comfort, convenience and room, it's simply not "connected" to the road like the Subie. Then again it's not a rally car. It's (the Fusion) perfect for traveling across the state and having a little fun doing it. I have to admit that it feels much "sportier" than I had anticipated. I'm enjoying it. Looks great too. SYNC rules BTW.

I had a 1996 F-150. There's not much about it that I miss, except the size. It was large enough to provide excellent visibility, but it was not so big that the tail lights were in another zip code. It was a short wheelbase model which kinda made it fun to drive, but then as I was driving I'd remember that just looking at the gas pedal would be expensive as the truck only got about 12 mpg if I was careful, which I usually wasn't because that's no fun! One day I'll buy a truck again. Right now, I've got my sights set on the Raptor, but I also know that next year Ford will be introducing a EcoBoost V6 to most trims except the Raptor and Harley Davidson, so those are both great possibilities for the future, but for now I love my Fusion. It's stylish, has plenty of room, reliable, excellent fuel economy, and even though it's only the 2.3L I4, it's still fun to drive with it tight steering.

Traded in my 2001 VW Jetta that had 168k miles. I do miss driving a turbo car (APR chipped) that averaged just over 27mpg combined and still light up the tires thru 3 gears. And the aftermarket community is highly developed for VWs. I can barely find any aftermarket mods for the Fusion so far.

Now have a 2011 SE in BlueFlame with the monochrome appear package. Can I expect to get better mileage after the car breaks in? I got 20.8mpg on the first mixed tank and slightly better this tank (about 550 miles on the car now). Overall, I'm happy with it though.
