So, what car did you part with to get your Fusion?

Acclaim was a good car, particularly if you had the 3 sp/4 cyl and not the Mitsushiti.

I had a 4-cyl/3pd. '91 Acclaim and it was the worst POS I ever had in my life. Short list of failures: short block (crack discovered after 2 head gasket replacements), automatic transaxle, steering column (loose steering wheel), complete rear axle assembly (cracked), VSS, TPS (2), ignition switch (smoke condition), extreme surge at idle (never fixed), engine stalling on highway (no cause found), fuel leak, paint flaking off hood and roof.

There was more but I can't remember off the top of my head, nor do I want to. Painful memories. :censored:

Getting rid of this automotive nightmare was one of the happiest days of my life.

LOL yep mine was the same 3 transmissions if i washed it the paint came off with the soap and the top leaked, but in a weird way i loved that little car i got 193k out of her and still miss driving a convertible

and i will give my rundown to be fair

and the mileage is listed as when i sold/junked/totaled the car

1985 BMW 735i (230k) > 1992 chrysler lebaron (193k) / 1988 volvo 240 wagon (250k) > 1989 lincoln continental (90k) > 1989 toyota cressida (100k) > 2000 ford taurus LX (100k) > 2006 fusion (102k active)/ 1986 BMW 635 CSI (101k active)

the 6er is my summer car (the mistress lol) the fusion is rockin on. of all those cars the 89 conti was the worst TOILET i ever owned blew head gaskets leaky air ride 2 window motors and a regulator (rode great when it ran!)

and to note

junked the 7 series (rot) and the lincoln (hunk of crap)

totaled the volvo

sold the rest

93 SHO. I loved that car but I was just tired of getting it fixed. I wanted to be in a position wher e i could keep it as a collector, but alas, it didnt turn out that way. I made sure she went to a good home tho, a guy who had restored a 91 who's wife totaled it by hitting a deer. I miss the lower ride and manual transmition, but most of all i miss that roar of the engine when you hit 4k RPM when the intakes really open up. Otherwise the fusion sport is essetially the same car, quick as a bunny!

2004 SVT Focus with euro appearance package

I will miss:

That they were rare, only a few hundred of that exact car ever made

Only had 28,500 miles and a brand new engine/clutch/tires/brakes

I love my new Fusion because:

Lots more room

Better ride

18's

Blue-tooth

steering wheel controls

NO MORE PREMIUM GAS

smoother 6 speed manual

I traded in a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited edition for a 2006 Ford Fusion 4 cylinder.

Miss:

AWD

Power

Heated Seats

Moon/Sun Roof

Self tinting mirrors

Don't Miss:

Bad MPG only averaged 15mpg

Repairs

What I like about the Fusion:

Good MPG, Average 28mpg with the 4 cylinder

6 disc CD changer

Headlights are bright compared to my other vehicle which is a Jeep

The computer which tells you the MPG avg and trip time etc.

Power seats and comfortable

Rides nice

What I don't like about the Fusion:

The slow start to get moving, might just be me it is the first 4banger i have ever had

The oil filter, I would rather just have a simple screw on and off filter

I got rid of an absolutely gorgeous 2003 F150 XLT Sport 4X4 5.4.

It was black with grey interior. Absolutely gorgeous!

What I miss:

The big truck feel

The ride height

Beautiful black paint

Torque

The big ol' V8 growl

What I don't miss:

Big truck parking

Ride quality LOL

Keeping 4,000,000 sq ft of black paint beautiful

Big ol' V8 gas mileage

The Fusion is the first new vehicle I've ever owned.

It caught my eye when the 2010's came out.

Sync is amazing

The Leather is sweet!!!

MPG is fantastic for a V6

I traded in my 2008 BMW Z4. Was very sad to do it, but with the addition of a teenage driver to the household, a 2dr convertible sports car just wasn't making the cut on insurance. Trading it for the Fusion helped cut several hundred out of the monthly budget.

Things I'll miss:

The whole nimble little sports car package (Handling, Acceleration, etc)

The Convertible bit. - Fusion has the Moon & Tune package, but there's really no comparison.

Auto Dimming side mirrors.

Small cockpit with 2 sub woofers right behind the seats. No comparison on the sound quality between the two stereos. (BMW Premium Sound vs the Sony system)

Memory seats, esp now that 2 other drivers are possible instead of just my wife.

Zenon headlights - may have to invest in aftermarkets for the Ford

Transmission controls, both the steering wheel paddles and the lever shifting. (the buttons on the Fusion's stick have yet to be used - just not as intuitive as the BMWs controls)

Space in the engine compartment (not that I intend to be under the Fusion's hood much)

Things that are better on the Fusion

Lubar support on the driver's seat.

Visibility (with the top up on the Z4, it had huge blind spots)

Less harsh ride quality

less road noise (canvas just doesn't keep noise out all that well)

Actually having cargo room and a backseat

MyKey for the teenager

Backup cam, blind spot indicators & backup assist are all nice for the teen as well

Floor mats that stay put

Call quality via bluetooth

Not needing to put in the most expensive fuel (I'd run the Z4 on lower than premium when supplies were non-existent during Ike and it was very unhappy about it)

Ford's rain sensing wipers are a bit better implementation than the Z4 had.

Things that I'm not sure about yet

Runflats vs tiny spare - Runflats on the BMW actually weren't bad after I swapped the Bridgestones for some Pirellis. realistically a non-issue though

actual mileage (both cars were similarly rated - 20/28 for the Ford, 19/29 for the BMW) I was getting around 25-27 on my commute and 30-32 on long drives.

Sync - Love it for the bluetooth control of my phone, still unsure how well I like it for controlling the iPod vs how I was using the iPod in the BMW

I can't really complain. The V6 has good power. It rides nice and has all the creature comforts. Very nice car all around.

Well at the time it was a 2005 Ford Taurus. Light blue. It was an ok car, better than the other two Taurus I had. The first one was a 2002 silver one and it was a total lemon, had to get rid of it...got another Ford Taurus. Dark blue with a sunroof. Good car...until 50,000 miles and the transmission blew. Then we got another Taurus (the light blue one) and eventually traded that off for the Ford Fusion which is WAY better!!

Got a 2011 Mercury Milan I4 because I needed better seats. The lumbar support is great and the drivers seat is very comfortable. Looking forward to first long road trip. But I just couldn't trade in my 05 Mustang. I held on to it and it is nice to have a second vehicle to go out and have some fun in, just no more long trips. Though the Milan is fun to drive in it's own way too. I enjoy both of my cars.

Sold mycar.jpg

2004 Mini-Cooper.

Will miss how fast & zippy it was around corners.

Will miss being able to park anywhere.

Will miss dual sun roof.

Will miss RUN FLAT TIRES.

Will miss AMAZING LEG SPACE.

Will NOT miss INSANE BMW repair bills that were driving me to ruin.

Will NOT miss lack of SPACE for hauling stuff.

Simply couldn't afford to keep it running any longer - the MINI-COOPER is not a car to buy without an extended warranty.

Am looking forward to driving my brand new FORD FUSION HYBRID again - sadly it has to be repaired already (just over 2 weeks old when nav system broke)

Will Miss:

Getting Rained On

Not Having to Answer My Phone

HARD turns at 50+MPH

Mileage

Wind in my face

Freedom

Won't Miss:

Getting Rained On

Not being able to answer my phone

Limited Carry Capacity

Being Cold even with the heater on.

HORRIBLE Winter Weather Performance

Practicality

Can't Live Without:

Sync (or similar)

Heated Seats

I LOVE my C50 but with the new location and the new job it is no longer practical so I'm selling it for the time being and got the '09 Milan. I'll buy another one some day but I LOVE this one.

Traded a 2007 Toyota Matrix 5MT that i had names "Miles"

I bought him used as my first car, he had 61K miles and i was the 3rd owner.

I traded him for my new 2011 FF SE 6MT "Amber"

What i miss:

Rear Hatch with Rear Wiper

The shifter had a really nice short throw

What i dont miss:

Road noise...there was a lot of it

the whole "toyotaness" soft squishy suspension that lead to extreme body roll and gearing that was so biased to FE that it was impossible to accelerate quickly...

Manual Mirrors >.<

That car was almost possessed for me. Although it appeared to me at the right place at the right time for the right price, everything bad that has ever happened to me on the road has happened in to me in that car.

First speeding ticket after 4 years of driving (cruise control glitch) and 3 seperate winter weather related mishaps...had to replace 2 wheels and the front right inner tie rod...

All of this in ~6 months of ownership

So...Traded it in while i still could for a car that's Significantly better :D

Traded a 2010 Scion tC RS 6.0, 5-spd, hatchback, #562 of 1100.

What I will miss...

Hatchback with center button opener (after unlocked)

Sharp blue color & laser stripe

Went over 120 mph a couple of times

Getting lots of compliments on the car

What I won't miss...

Kept missing 3rd gear during power shift

Rough ride

Bad mpg's, ave 24-26 hwy (the 120 mph hits didn't have anything to do with it...)

Cramped driver's side leg room (I'm 6')

No back seat leg room (never had to ride there, but wife did once)

Not good messin' with Momma...because when Momma ain't happy, no one is

Got the 2011 Fusion SE with I-4, auto, button paddle shift on knob, sun roof, black grill, and custom wheels, a week ago.

Bought it March 25 as a birthday present. Like it so far and with just over 1,100 miles since buying it, mileage is between 29 & 34 hwy.

The tuxedo black is getting compliments and the ride is great.

Anemic power starting out from a stop, but plenty once moving.

No outside trunk release button without the fob.

Seats 4 comfortably.

Looking at buying a '94 Mustang V-6 vert with auto for the drive to work car.

Have other cars to enjoy on the weekends...

Last words in fatal accidents for 49 of 50 states are "Oh Sh*t!"

Final words in Wisconsin are "Hold my beer, I'm gonna try somethin'..."

I had a '02 Explorer XLT with 208k. It threw up smoke and fluid as the original head gasket and tranny blew up on the drive back to NY from Cleveland in the Pennsylvian hills of I-80 after a Jet's weekend with 2 buddies last Novemeber. I gave it to the tow truck driver for a 30 mile ride to the airport and rented a Fusion. I had been looking at them and since I basically took one on a 300 mile test drive I bought a 2011 SEL I-4 the next day.

I miss the 8-cyl and I'll definately miss throwing my poles on the roof rack and driving on the beach this summer. The Fusion's gas mileage is awesome in comparision, I'm actually getting the quoted combined 25/gal but accellerating onto the highway drives me nuts sometimes; I should've gone with the 6-cyl. The heated bucket seats, moonroof,12 speakers, added curb appeal, and chicks diggin the ambient lighting made me forget about 'old reliable' in a day.

I could do without the 'capless fuel system' because the nozzles here stick on the pins and having to use a funnel to throw some techron in is a pain in the a. I'm happy with the Sync but wish it could recognize compilations and play gapless albums right with my ipod. Other than that though, its a great car.

2000 Dodge Neon

What I miss: Small car maneuverability, simple, didn't worry about dings, cheap liability only insurance, memories

What I don't miss: Poor crash rating, little loud on the highway, pending repairs required to pass inspection

What I won't be able to live w/out in the future: keyless entry, convex mirror on drivers side, active safety systems (Stability control)

I gave up my 2002 Mercury Cougar, nicknamed 'Teena' :)

What I will miss:

Great, sporty handling

Ease of driving a smaller car

Fantastic trunk room (hatchback with back seats that folded down). I drove from VA to FL with all of my belongings in that car - she was wonderful

Rear windshield wiper!

V6 engine

What I won't miss/can't live without:

Nav screen!

Sync

Leather seats

Having a car with all working parts (the Cougar started to see a few quirks like the passenger side window not rolling down)

All-in-all, I really do miss that car (does anyone else ever feel this way??). Maybe because she was my first car and I had her for almost 9 years.. I'll just have to remember the happy memories and then make new ones with my Fusion!

I went from a 1999 Cavalier Z24 with 188K to a new Fusion SE 2.5L A6. The Cavalier was a car that I purchased as a private sale and though it got me through our harsh Alberta winter, it was on its last legs and needed to be put down.

What I miss:

1. Power sunroof

2. Smaller fuel tank - still got me 30+ MPG on the highway.

3. Cheaper insurance

What I won't miss:

1. Suspension that is equal to a horse-drawn carriage.

2. Manual transmission that had problems with its synchros. Reverse was about to fail sometime soon.

3. Stressing out that the car would stall out as the motor was tired and showing issues with oil and fuel circulation.

4. Not having a warranty for any powertrain issues that may arise.

What I love:

1. SYNC - I am impressed with the voice recognition, though it does have a tendency to misinterpret like any speech recognition system.

2. Hands-free system - Alberta is pushing for a hands-free bylaw but I still don't believe in using mobile devices while driving. The speakerphone is awesome and being able to dial via voice is great. Now if phone manufacturers would get up to speed for MAP support, I'd be able to have text messages read to me.

I had a 1999 Chrysler 300M with 209,000 miles on it. It was in good shape with new tires and brakes and everything but a rear window lifter working.

I bought a 2011 Candy Red Metalic Milan Premier Hybrid with all the features I could get.

What I miss:

Sound system: Even though the Mercury/Ford Sony sound system is pretty impressive, the Chrysler's Infinity sound system is much better--among other things the natural voices come out of the windshield, not somewhere behind the dash.

Tires: I also miss the Goodyear Quiet Tred tires that took the tiny bumps away and were unaffected by grooved road surfaces. The Michelins on the Milan don't absorb well and are skittish on grooved highways--I may have to ditch them or get Ford to replace them.

Trunk; I miss the big trunk and fold down seats

Navigation: I miss my Tom Tom. It was easier to use, more accurate, and had the ability to store the locations of specific store chains (like 99 Cent Only).

What I like about the Milan:

Mileage: I get 40 mpg on the highway, 40 in the city, and 35 in the hilly suburbs versus 28 on the highway, 18 local

Quiet: The Milan and especially the hybrid is tomb-like quiet

Range: Close to 600 miles on a tank is wonderful.

CVT: I didn't think I would like the transmission, but it is great. It is always willing to push the car forward without shift hesitation.

Bells and Whistles: I like the features of the sound system, although I find that Sirius sound quality isn't nearly as good as HD radio. I like the backup camera, the automatic windshield wipers, the real time traffic on the navigation system, the information-rich displays, etc.

All in all, the Milan is a great car.

I traded in a red 2005.5 Audi S4 (mid year redesign) for my 2011 Blue Ford Fusion Sport. Test drove the Fusion on a whim as I was about to have my next scheduled maintenance performed on the S4 to the tune of $1500. Bought the Fusion the day after I test drove it.

What I miss:

Race car like handling, power

What I won't miss:

The insanely high regular maintenance costs, gas mileage, premium gas

What I like better about the Fusion:

It's 'select shift' - I love that it doesn't shift itself, the Audi's did and the Audi and I would want to shift at the same time, so it would jump 2 gears. I used it a grand total of 2 times. Sync - has there EVER been a better car gadget? Color...I love Blue. Bought the S4 used and didn't have much choice on color and had to accept the auto transmission.

I loved the S4, and even after liking the Fusion really thought I was going to have buyers remorse after a couple days, but I don't miss it at all. I will admit that I'd like to make the Fusion a little faster, but I love it as is. Great car. One message for Ford though...can you please offer a 6 speed manual with the 3.5L V6 in the Fusion? You can probably wait a few years though, love my Fusion.

2002 Grand Am SE.

She was tired, Starting to rust in the classic Grand Am gas cap area.

The kicker was when the 130K motor developed a timing chain rattle.

Miss:

It,, loved it when it was tight.

Dont miss:

Replacing a timing chain.

Looking at the annoying rust spot

27 MPG
