so i did my 1st oil change, on my FFH, @ 8000 km, since my area is really dusty, because of construction of new homes, and for that i did an oil change, under the special conditions in the manual for oil change intervals. Well the dust has settled, and technically, my next oil change should be @ 12 months or 16,000 km.

So after the oil change, they put that clear sticker on your top left corner of the window, stating the next service, which says Nov '10 or 16,000 km on the odometer !! screw that !! I didnt mention anything, to the people there, but i can see they trying to get more business, and i have no right to question them about it, since they are technically trained mechanics and supposed to know their stuff

but screw it, im not going back there until i roll 24,000 km, which should be about in the next 8-10 months

did anyone here get their oil change at the dealer, and trying to fool you into coming in more often than you should, to get it done? or did they actually put down on sticker for you guys the recommended intervals stated in the manuals?

oh i also noticed on my receipt invoice said "resetted oil life minder" i checked before going in 51%, and checked after going out, it was at still 51% which they clearly didnt reset lol

They all do that - or most of them anyway. They would love for you to keep changing your oil every 3K miles. Has nothing to do with mfr recommendations - they're just trying to drum up business. Ignore whatever they recommend and use your own schedule.

So true, I always just rip of their sticker and go by the display. When it gets to about 50% I check the mileage to see how far I have came and what the weather has been since last oil change. Then I make my own decision.

When I drove my new from the factory car off the dealer lot, I looked up and saw the oil change sticker that said 3000 miles. Idiots. Such a waste of oil and money to do that. Nearly every place does it and I always peel the sticker off when I first get back into the car. Drives me nuts not only having a sticker on my window, but one that tells me the incorrect oil change interval to use.
