With the 2010 3.0 V6 FWD, I'm getting 23.5 mpg with about 1/2 City/Highway driving. Rodeo Posted October 9, 2010 Share Posted October 9, 2010 I am constantly getting about 27.5 combo driving, granted most of that is indeed highway and I can tell you I don't baby my car for mileage. Of course, thats the cars computer giving me that reading and only god knows how accuratre that is. Still, 27.5 is pretty good if you ask me, especially having all the power of the 2010 V6-3.0 as it does. Very happy with the engine performance and mileage. Just highway, I've been getting 30 usually, but sometimes I drive the highway very late, set the cruise control at 55mph (speed limit on the Garden State Parkway) drive in the right lane, and do 42mpg. The OM says the opposite Fuel qualityIf you are experiencing starting, rough idle or hesitation driveability problems during a cold start, try a different brand of “Regular” unleaded gasoline. Premium unleaded gasoline is not recommended for vehicles designed to use “Regular” unleaded gasoline because it may cause these problems to become more pronounced. When I tried 87, it was rough idle, as you stated, and didn't seem to accelerate as smoothly, put 91 in, car drives wonderfully. Idle has been smooth, as well as acceleration. In all technicality it runs fine, I just feel it runs better on 91, smoother, all my other cars do the same, new or old. I don't mean it's not driveable, I just feel it runs better on 91, same with the sport. For instance instead of not feeling idle at all, on regular fuel, once in a while I'd feel the engine. I think my post turned out to be a bit more exaggerated than intended. The fusion can of course run on 87, and is meant to, Ford even designed the ecoboost to run on 87, I just feel mine runs best on 91. 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

On my old vehicle I discovered that higher octane helped the car's performance. So when I got my 07 Fusion SE V6, the first gas I put was 93 and have not changed since. Still runs like new @ 124K - My next dues are tranny flush, brake check & tires after that. And I also have always used FULL SYNTHETIC OIL and premium oil filter for all my oil changes every 4-5K miles. Hi P00r. :D Ford's Maintenance Guide recommends changing the automatic transmission fluid in the Fusion/Milan/MKZ at 150,000 miles for "Normal Service" vehicles and 30,000 miles for "Severe Service" vehicles. You can find this information in the Ford Scheduled Maintenance Guide you were given when you purchased your vehicle, (if you purchased new). In addition, the descriptions of what comprises "Normal" or "Severe Service" vehicles are also located in the Maintenance Guide. Of course, that is Ford's "recommendation". If you are more comfortable performing scheduled maintenance sooner than Ford recommends, it certainly will not hurt and that is up to you. As long as you don't change later, you are good. 2fusions Posted February 27, 2011 Share Posted February 27, 2011 New to the forum...had my 08 Fusion SEL 3.0 since November, and I can't seem to get anything better than 24mpg. I do about 85% highway driving and I can say I am disappointed in the fuel economy. I don't get on it ever, so 24 isn't that good IMO. My 95 Infiniti j30 with a 3.0 V6 with 150k miles would run about 3,000 rpm at 70 mph and would do almost 25 mpg, the Fusion runs at a little over 2,000 rpm at 70, and I see about 23.5mpg as a max. I really hope it is just crappy winter gas. Other than that I love the car. Winter gas and winter roads have a huge impact. I have noticed a considerable drop on the freeway when it is raining hard (Seattle) and the roads are very wet, thus increasing the rolling resistance. In the winter it is also much more likely for the car to start, even after a short park, in warm-up mode, which is not a MPG friendly mode. I see at least 28 MPG on both of mine at 65-70 MPH on semi flat, dry roads. A combined tank, typically 70/30 city/hywy usually results in 22.5 to 23.5 which I am happy with. 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

bigdotbob Posted October 15, 2012 Share Posted October 15, 2012 I own a 2010 Ford Fusion SEL with the 3.0 V6 and I get roughly 29 MPG. I drive 72 miles daily to work (36 there 36 back) mostly highway miles. It takes me about 16 city miles to get to the interstate and then once I get close to work another 8 city.
