tinted headlights or tails?

For the life of me I can't comprehend why anyone would want to darken any of their car's exterior lights. My stock headlights are already painfully inadequate and I can't wait for the day I can replace them with more powerful bulbs. Tinting any lens just to make the car look different is insane. Personally, I want to see where I'm going in both forward and reverse and I want other drivers to see my car as well.

I did it in my old Cougar and it turned out great. Darkene them to a deeper red, but it probably won't be as glossy as they are now.

It is illegal though so make sure they aren't too dark, and mask off the reverse light.

I would leave the headlights alone though for safety

I have an 07 SE that I did the taillights to. I did 3 coats of Night Shades and 3 coats of clear. You can still see inside the light in sunlight but it darkened it considerably. Night shades is a transparent paint so the light output is much better than tint film. It did darken the lights a little but not to a dangerous level. You can see my brake lights fine in the day. I left my 3rd brake light alone for added measure. The headlights, I just baked them open and painted the housing black except for the actual reflector bowls and the front of the "squares" that sit against the lense. This made a HUGE difference in the look and I didn't diminish the light output at all.
