What DON'T you like about your Fusion?

I like this car on the first day of ownership.

Beef # 1). I see under the hood at the top of the strut towers. There are holes for nylon wire loom anchors & just open 1/4" aprox. hole that breach salt & other wheel well debries into the engine compartment. The salt was unusually caked around where ever a hole is. Even the holes with the wire loom anchors pushed in them bled a cake of white road salt with also is caked running down the front of the towers behind the fuse box on the driver. side & coolant reservoir on tank on the pass. side.

There is a big gap thats hard to see in the wheel well where the plastic inner fender ends. The salt build-up was quite heavy.

I see future fuse box electrical issues that have a potential for insurmountable problems on this highly gadgeted car if this is not corrected.

I live in the salt belt and we all know its the big enemy. This car was bought with 17,500 mi. on it. I have washed down the areas with a dawn soap & and rinsed well with hot water. I will plug these holes & seal around the loom anchors with RTV.

I'll see what can be done with the gaps at the inner fender/strut tower.

I need to clean those areas better. The fuse box & reservoir mad need to be moved out of the way to access the gaps

Beef #2) No engine cover? Rather surprising, a simple cover would go along way under that hood.

Does anyone else have trouble fueling? I can rarely get the handle in and have it lock without it shutting off automatically. Almost like the tube to the tank is too small and it gets backed up. Very frustrating and makes for a slow fueling experience because you have to stand there the whole time and hold the trigger halfway or just keep holding it while it stops, and restarting the flow.

My window fogs up very easily, which means I almost have to have the defroster on always, whether its warm or cool or in between.

same here. In very cold days, the condensation inside becomes a thin layer of ice, which you can do nothing about but wait. Did I mention that when you are idling, it takes long time for the engine to heat up? It means I have to wait in a cold car for very long before I can drive it away safely!

here lately I am not happy at all with MPG....It has went from 30 to 23....whats up with that??

Cold weather is usually the lower mpg problem. Until the engine warms up the computer increases the fuel to the fuel/air ratio so the engine

can run proper. The more cold starts on your car the lower the mpg's. Also, if you drive in snow your car has a much greater rolling

resistance and that also drops your fuel mileage. Some people start the engine and let warm up awhile......guess

what that does for the mpg indicator? Cold weather is a fuel burner in more ways then one.

I was wondering if that could be the problem since it did start after very cold weather, but can't say my other cars were ever affected that much....

Glad I am not the only one!! I have found at SOME stations, if you push the nozzle all the way in, then back it out maybe 1/2", it should rest there and fuel. Others, no such luck, and you're playing the click & squeeze for 10 min.

The rear seat area is very bouncy on my SEL. It makes me almost car-sick sometimes. Other than that, I really don't have any complaints.

What the heck are you doing driving from the back seat? Geez, talk about a back seat driver, now that is just taking it too literally! :hysterical:

My gripes seem to be along the same lines as others, the wipers with that extra swipe. The Buttons on the stack. Never noticed any rear window issues, then again, I seldom ever use the center mirror, I tend to use the sides all the time.

Someone mentioned the BLIS giving a tone when someone is in the zone. Well, let me ask that person how long they would have it bleeping when they are driving down the highway and there are cars always in your zone? Bleep, car on your left, BLEEP car on your right, BLEEP BLEEP Car on your right car on your left. Annoying isn't it! :):drop:

The reason they put the light in the mirror with no sound is because you are supposed to be looking in the mirror when making a lane change, and seeing that light on would warn you there is a car there that you may not see. It would drive me nuts if it was always bleeping when going down the road. Those of us with good peripheral vision can see those orange lights even without looking at the mirrors too. Now something that I might agree on is if it bleeps when you put your signal on and a car is in the zone. Then again, if you don't use your signal, and don't use your mirrors, you're on your own! :finger:

The drivers seat could be a bit more comfortable in the thigh area. The drivers seat tends to press a nerve on my left thigh, and I have yet found a comfortable position for my leg.

And finally, the best improvement they can make to the Sport, 3.5L Ecoboost AWD. Put that in the car and I will be there buying a new one.

My problem with fueling is fuel spillage when I pull the nozzle out. When I'm done fueling I have to pull the nozzle most of the way out, tilt it downward, wait a couple seconds, then take it out.

In addition to avoiding bringing in snow, etc, on nice days I'll open a couple windows to try and keep moisture from building up.

One thing that drives me nuts with the front defrost is it doesn't seem to heat the wiper park position very well so the wipers can freeze up.

I have only had my 08 a few days , I don't like the large blue ford emblem on the grill , My car is black Im gonna see if I could somehow get it tinted .The seatbelt is so far back its a bit of a pain to reach for while your driving , and the trunk is also hard to close . I probably would not have thought about these things much before I read this thread.

Ford keeps increasing the size of the emblem. In the '10-'11 the one on the trunk is so big it's starting to block the Center High Mount Stop Lamp. Some of the ones on the trucks are huge as well.

The sun visors are the first thing that come to mind. Their small size makes them virtually useless. that's something I've always hated about the car. Also I wish it got a bit better gas mileage, but 24 to 26mpg for a V6 isn't too bad I guess. I can get 30mpg out of my 4cyl Pontiac G6. I know those few extra mpg's probably don't make or break anything, but hey every little bit helps.

I've only had my 2011 SE about a week, so perhaps its a bit early to comment on dislikes (so far there has been a lot to like). However, I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned the unbelieveably irritating (at least to me) turn signal sound. Sounds like an electronic version of someone tapping on a block of wood. Loudly. I even went so far as to check the owner's manual, hoping for some kind of capability to change it to some other sound (why can't it sound like a turn signal relay?) Alas.

Another issue (that was almost a deal breaker) was limited headroom. Someone else in this thread mentioned this. I'm 6'-1" and barely fit if the car was equipped with the moon roof option and non-electric seat. Problem was solved by finding a non-moon roof car with the electric adjust seat. Not an easy task - all the lots I went to only had the more upscale trim packages with moon roofs, and the dealer had to fetch one from one of his other locations.

I find the grab handle in the roof above the driver's side door a bit puzzling. I guess you could use it to help you get out of the car, but I always thought these handles were for passengers to hang onto for dear life when the driver is doing something stupid. If the driver is grabbing for this handle things have REALLY gotten out of control.

Love the cavernous trunk, but dislike the cheap spare tire cover that practically sags under its own weight (my 93 Taurus had the same thing).

Took a gander under the hood, let out a low whistle, and gently closed it again. Wrenching on the old 3.8 Taurus gasketblower was a challenge, and I see times haven't changed. Lots of stuff packed in there. I didn't look real close, but it appears the water pump is driven off of a camshaft via an external pulley and v-belt. Struck me as a bit of an engineering afterthought, but I suppose it might make changing the water pump a bit easier. I haven't crawled underneath yet, but Ford would have had to work nights and weekends to think of a way to make an oil filter reside in a worse location than the Taurus filter, tucked behind the right front wheel right next to a scalding catalytic converter, diagonally.

Like I said, the car is new and I'm still getting to know it. Heck, I haven't even tried out the new-fangled capless gas filler yet. The wife loves it, the co-workers are envious, and for better or worse I am (and have always been) a "Ford" guy, so I'll probably keep it a good long while.

I'm surprised to hear about the headroom issues. I'm 6'1" as well and there is plenty for me. That was/is one of the major selling points of the car that 6'4" could fit comfortably. I wonder if they trimmed it down a bit for '11 from my '09. Also the grab handles are actually to help get in and out. It makes sense for really tall vehicles (like some trucks) and really low vehicles like some sports cars.

The only thing I don't like so far is the spare and that Sync won't dial a phone number only a contact already in your phone.

So true. Which genius decided that driver needs a grab...maybe for assisting a senior to get out?

My 2010 FFH has no grab handle on the driver side. Wouldn't the FFH have geezer trim? So the handle isn't to help getting out, but really is "to hang onto for dear life?" Or is the grab handle a 2011 add on?
