Type of oil used

I just bought a 2011 Fusion SE, I-4, Auto 6. Does anyone know what type of oil (non-syn, partial syn, all syn) comes initially in the car? What type of oil do you recommend for future oil changes?

Likely Motorcraft 5W-20 Synthetic blend. Recommend same with Motorcraft filter.

Hi goofybama. :D The information is listed in your Owners Manual. As turtlejj stated, factory fill is Motorcraft 5W-20 Synthetic Blend.

Unless you want to switch on future oil changes to a full synthetic which meets the Ford specifications for the Fusion (also listed in the Owners Manual), I would recommend using the same Motorcraft 5W-20 Synthetic Blend and Motorcraft filter (as turtlejj also stated).

Good luck. :beerchug:

bbf2530, isn't it interesting that there are so many owners posting on car websites that can be classified as DROM owners. Don't Read The Owners Manual. lol

I've always said the safest place for your valuables is inside the owner's manual. NOBODY EVER LOOKS THERE!

Thank you to the first 2 posters that answered my question. I hope that my other questions on this board will be answered as professionally as the first 2 posters did. Thanks again turtlejj and bbf2530.

Hi goofybama. :D You are very welcome.

Also, just on a side note: As you will find out if you hopefully become a regular member here on the Ford Fusion Forum (the more the merrier), both FFHdriver and akirby are very helpful members. They were just humorously expressing a pet peeve concerning a perceived mass lack of Owners Manual usage that seems to occur quite often, so please don't take anything they stated personally. The humor sometimes helps us keep our sanity. :grouphug: :hysterical:

Good luck. :beerchug:

  • 2 weeks later...

First change was amsoil 5w-20 at 1000 miles, amsoil 0w-20 at 7500 miles. Engine seems a bit quieter with the 0w-20 especially at cold startup (10-32F here).

owners manual doesn't say to change at 1000K but I felt better doing it anyways. I've always had positive results with AMSOIL so thats why I use it.
