Any "Beware" or "Awesome" Points for 2010 SEL V6?

I'm thinking of buying a used, but in great shape, Ford Fusion SEL V6 with Sync. Any major complaints/issues/problems that I should be aware of? Anything that is great about this car in comparison to the competition? I think it is the best bang for the buck, but want to make sure before I make my decision.

Thanks.

Not sure what year or mileage your looking at, but the two I have had, 2008 SE and 2011 Sport have been awesome cars with zero problems.

Sounds like you have already made up your mind to me ;)

Go for it, you will love it!

My wife had a 2006 SEL 3.0 and loved it. I bought her a new 2010 SEL 3.0L last year and she loves it even more. With gas prices heading upwards, I just sold my 2008 F-150 and bought a slightly used 2010 SEL 3.0 as well. We Love the cars, have never had any issues and they get great MPG. These are great cars at an incredible price. My only suggestion, find a nice one quickly, as gas prices rise, so does the used price for these, and they get harder to find. Good luck.

From the title, I'll assume you are looking at a 2010 SEL V6 which is exactly what I have. You've seen the positive responses above. I would just be cautious of any transmission issues. Check the build date to see if it was built on/before 3/8/2010. If so then check into the 10B15 customer sat program and see when/if they applied the 10B15 PCM updates. Has the transmission been replaced? Has the valve body in the transmission been replaced? Check for any trans fluid leaks. Test drive it cold and look for any hard shifting or any "flaring" between shifts.

Unless it already has a ton of miles it should still be covered by the 3 year, 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty or 5 year, 60,000 mile powertrain warranty.

Hope this helps. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Both of mine were built prior to 3/8/10 and neither have any transmission issues. Maybe I just got lucky, but I suspect it is not a very wide spread issue. I will ask my service manager the next time I go by there and have him run an OASIS report. If there is something there, as they say, an ounce of prevention............... the 5/60,000 power train warranty is pretty sweet, and certainly adds confidence in buying the car.

Thanks for giving the actual PCM update #, it is always nice to have something specific when talking to the service department.

It's awesome!

2010 Milan Premier with the 3.0 V6

Had some minor tranny issues for the first couple of thousand miles and took it in to my dealer who checked it out and said just drive it for a few more thou.

That seemed to work because all the tranny issues seemed to work themselves out nicely.

Love the car, love the comfort, love the handling, love the power, love the 6-speed tranny which helps the motor seem so powerful.

No regrets!

Most awesome about my 2010 SEL is the AWD. We had nine back to back snowstorms right after Christmas, and not one of them was a match for my AWD. Other plusses: comfy heated seats, cavernous trunk, plush ride, classy looks (heads turn), and a dream to handle. As for problems, I haven't had one. I'd say go for it.

Thanks for all the pointers. The only thing holding me back now is the insane uptick in gas prices. With the Middle East on the verge of anarchy, it may be wise to wait a bit and see if things calm down. Otherwise, a hybrid may be what I need to consider!

The high price of fuel is not going to get better.....so I think everyone should consider that when they buy a car today....plan for the worse.

I chose a 2010 V6 , 3.0 knowing that I would get a few MPG's less then the I-4 , but I wanted the extra performance and was willing to pay a few more

$'s a month, in fuel costs to get it. BUT, if I had to drive my car everyday for long distances I think I would quickly change my mind.

It's all a matter of what is important to you. The Fusion has enough options available to match what you need!. As for me....I would only buy a Ford, and the Fusion

V6, 3.0 is the perfect car in every way for what I use it for. Ford definitely has a car that will match what anyone is looking for...the mistake I too often made in my earlier years was that I bought before I looked at the whole picture......and most every SALESMAN know exactly what we all need! Good luck with your purchase.

I've owned two Fusions now, a '07 and now a 2011. My 2011 has the 3.0 in it and I have to say the gas mileage is great and the extra power the 6 has is worth it. I average around 25 to 27 MPG between highway and city driving and 35+ on straight thruway. My '07 had the 4 cyl in it and the gas mileage was about the same. I have to say the 3.0 is well worth it as the performance is there when you want it. The only down side I can think of so far is the driving directions with Sync. Everything in the Sync is great except driving directions. Three times it took me the wrong way, once it put me 5 miles in the wrong direction to where I wanted to go. I put my GPS back in the car, much better. So if that's the only downside I can think of, I'd say go for it, you'll have a great car.

Sync is my only complaint so far, but I just bought my 2011 yesterday. Damn thing can not understand a word I say. I say call babygirl (my wife) it calls amy.... and dear god if I try to tell it to play a song. "Play doors break on through" It says 'did you say a monkey construed?" Now I live in Illinois.. not exactly the capital for thick accents. I have a hard time believing sync can understand anyone from down south.

other than that i am not qualified to comment on the vehicle thus far.

Try just "play song break on through" and see what happens. If you happen to have another artist with a song named "break on through" and it picks that one, try the track forward >> button on your steering wheel until you get the Doors version.

To the contrary I have a pretty decent southern accent living in the deep south (Alabama) and Michelle (SYNC) understands me almost every time! My contacts though are pretty straight forward like Josh and Ashleigh and it understands those great. It gives other people a hard time, I wish you could *train* the system to your voice.

I have a 2010 and you can train it to learn your voice so I would think the 2011 still have this option. It only takes about 5 minutes to go through the learn your voice program and I have not had any issues with mine. As for someone saying the Nav was not accurate they must never have used a Garmin which is the worst system I have ever seen. I have had no problems with my Nav getting me where I need to go.
