2010 Fusion SEL accident

Hello Everybody -

I was the proud owner of a Black 2010 Fusion SEL. Loved that car. Driving down the freeway at 65 miles an hour and a semi truck pulls out right in front of us. Had my two kids with me. All of us in seat belts. Daughter in the front passenger seat (which I usually never let her do) and son in the back. Slammed the brakes as hard as I could and aimed for the back tire of the trailer so we would not go under. Prayed. Completely destroyed the front of the car. All air bags deployed but car interior was kept intact. We all walked away with nothing but a few bruises.

I sincerely believe this car saved our lives. My worst fear was of course something happening to my kids. Second fear was something happening to me and my kids trapped in the car with a mangled daddy. Emergency response people could not believe we were all ok. It was that bad.

I knew that I was going to replace that car with the same dang thing. Just got a new 2011 Fusion Sport with Navigation. I am even more in love. SYNC upgrade and better suspension. Grill is a little different also. Love this car so far!!!

Well, just wanted to introduce myself and tell my story. I am a Ford man from here on out and I tell everyone who listens about the virtues of the Ford Fusion.

Awesome post, I'm also new the the forums and own a new 2011 Sport model with all the trimmings, I love it and so does my wife, she wanted something safe and reliable for our kids (in the future) and I wanted to treat myself to luxary... I come from a long line of Fords (trucks though) and still have my Ranger, even though it's an extended cab it wont work when kids come along.

I have to say the 5 star crash test rating was a prime consideration for buying the Fusion. Your story just confirms that... glad everyone walked away from that scare.

Glad you and your kiddos are okay, enjoy your new Sport. Can you tell a difference in the steering feel?

Crash rating, side air bags, stability control, good handling for evasive maneuvers. All features I look for.

Same thing happened to me, I was in an '89 full size chevy pickup. hit the rear trailer wheels. it's a scary sight seeing a truck pull out and nothing you can do but hope. glad you all are ok, we all were ok too, just my girlfriend had a broken nose from hitting the rearview (she had a habit of sitting in the middle next to me in only a lap belt). Enjoy your Sport, i love my 2010 AWD.
