MikeC144
Hi all, New to the forum and have a question regarding repair. Got into a fender bender today and I have some damage to my front bumper. Near the grile, a piece of the plastic is cut into a half moon shape and just hanging on. On the very top of the bumper, I have some indents that look like they could just be filled in with some bondo. Anyone have any idea if this is possible to repair without replacing the bumper and how much it might cost? I wont be able to get a quote until next week and wanted to see if someone could maybe shed some light. 2006 Black SEL. Thank you in advance for any help at all! I will post pictures when I get chance. Edited May 17, 2011 by MikeC144

I will post pictures when I get chance. It's probably repairable but without the picture. A skilled collision person can repair some pretty serious bumper cover damage. BTW, Bondo is not a viable repair except for maybe a tiny area that will never be strained. There are special flexible compounds for this purpose. Bondo will crack if flexed.

Google and you'll find the Bondo plastic bumper repair kit. The site says it's flexible. Edited May 18, 2011 by FFHdriver

Fus1on.
A lot of bumper damage can be repaired with a heat gun and to fill in the low spots this is the type of product you will need. There is a video on there that shows the process. http://www.repaintsupply.com/pd-05895.cfm If it is ripped, it might be that you need to have that 'welded', it is not the same as regular welding but they use a material and an iron to weld it back together. There are a bunch of DIY videos on YouTube, do a search for 'bumper cover repair' or something to that effect. BTW When you get done and know how to do it, come to my house and do mine, i'm too lazy to do it :D http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/8848/nosedamage.jpg Edited May 18, 2011 by Fus1on.
redfire06
it may just be cheaper to buy a new cover have it painted and install it on your own
