cigar3tte
Just got my new Fusion SEL I-4 last night, and I noticed that the 12V plugs I have remains lit up when I've powered off the vehicle. Do I need to unplug them everytime I shut my car off to prevent the car from being out of battery? Is there a way to turn off the plugs when the car is off?

Yes they stay on and no, there is no way to turn them off unless you rewire them. But that won't matter unless you have something plugged into them and you leave that device on. What do you have plugged in?

The one on the front isn't plugged in when I leave the car, that one is to charge my phone. It's a Motorola plug and it glows blue when plugged in, w/o devices connected. The one inside the console is plugged into a Bluetooth stereo headset so that it's charging when I drive. I don't want it charging when I leave the car. Both the plug and the headset have LED's that light up when the car is off.

Only the LED is consuming power on the Motorola plug if the phone isn't plugged in so no issues there. But you leave your bluetooth headset turned on all the time? So that means if the plug lost power when the ignition is off the headset would still be on losing battery power until the car was started again? If it only charges when it needs to then it should be ok, otherwise you shouldn''t leave it plugged in anyway.

I don't leave it on all the time, in fact, the headset doesn't function when it's charging. The "fully charged" indicator, which is a green LED, remains lit. It turns yellow if it's charging. Either way, I don't like the idea that power is draining when the car is off, not for long hours. Edited May 24, 2011 by cigar3tte

akirby
Don't know a lot about cars. Where exactly would this be done? You just connect the add-a-line into the slot where fuse 43 normally resides (location is in the OM). then you wire all your accessories to that wire.
