Just got my fusion tinted

I also got my black color 2011 Fusion SEL tinted. I got it tinted with Solarmatrix (SunGard) Diamond which no one really heard of, but Solarmatrix bought out SunGard anyway on the back window there's a black dotted strip at the top which is the defroster, the adhesive from the tint still shows, do you also have the same issue?? The tint shop says it may not go away because of that black dotted strip and there's not much he can do.

Got mine done last Monday and have noticed the same issue. Plan to take it back tomorrow or Tuesday. I'll let you know what they say.

Got to the tint shop today and my installer said the same. He called them dot buttons, because they are raised, and the tint has a difficult time settling in. I asked about having that section removed and was told he was asked to do it on one other and the results were terrible because the adhesive has set and its almost impossible to clean up because of the dots. I'd checked several other newer Fusions in parking lots while shopping this weekend and found all of them had the same problem. We're not alone because my neighbor's G8 has the same issue on the back glass.

mine has the same thing. but that will not go away the dots are so close together that its hard for the tint to settle into the cracks. even if you just got it done and let it soak in the sun. you can take it back to plenty of different tint guys and you will get the same response. i wouldnt worry to much about it unless your bubbling up below it. i would becareful if you live somewhere where it's cold/snows and you have to use your defroster the heat from it will begin to melt the adhesive and bubble up your tint. so i recommend you dont use it all the time. if you do use your defroster i would watch for bubbles forming once a month during the winter time. and if ANY of you all have a lifetime or limited warranty i would take it in if it does bubble ASAP. none of this has happen to me yet (knock on wood). but hope i was able to help out. :)

Hey everyone, I was planning on getting my 2010 Fusion tinted. Has anyone had adverse affects to the back windshield? I was wondering if it would affect the defrost lines or the way it makes everything have that greenish tinge in my rear view mirror.

Any input would be appreciated!

Thanks

The greenish tinge in your rear view mirror is created within the mirror, activated from headlights hitting a sensor on the mirror. I have not notices any change in sensitivity with the mirror since going with tint. The mirror actually compares a light sensor facing frontward on the mirror to one facing rearward. The difference in signal prompts the electronics in the mirror to shift to tinted (night mode).

I have had the tint on my back window done twice. The first job had bad quailty on the bumps but the second shop had no issues with these bumps and it looks great and the adhesion on bumps is perfect. It can be done I do not know if there was a difference with the type material used the second time at the other shop.

There is a product called Dot-Devil that really good tint shops use to adhere the tint to the window. Before you have a tint done, ask how the shop will handle the dots and the defroster lines. NOTE - The rear window tint should always be appied as one sheet, not cut into strips to fit between defroster lines.

I just had my windows done with 20%

I basicly have a white line across the top of the back window. But... it does not look to bad unless you are up close. I personaly hate the look of the 2 small windows in the rear. I know the little windows can come out and be tinted. I just don't want to start taking a brand new car apar. Maybe in a few years i will re do the little windows buy removing them. (if i still have the car) Maybe put a decal across the rear window to hide the dots?

Yes!!!!! I use light grit sand paper... An "adhesive", works every time, lasts forever. Lots of cars have the same kind of dots. Shops that say there is nothing they can do about it really concern me. Please do iur research before spending money only to hear excuses about why the top of ur rear glass looks white or bubbled.

My old car had the dots, as well as my fusion now. I have heard that nothing can be done or there are no tricks out there..... I guess its a crap shoot. I smoothed it out as best as I could straight away after I had it done, it seemed to help a bit, its because the dots are raised is my guess......

Where I live in Canada (not in the arctic... lol) it gets stupid cold right now and most days we need defrost, and have to run our cars for a couple of minutes in the morning. I havent noticed any issues and I got my ride tinted in June.
