Poonjahb
Has anyone put any universal mufflers on a 2010-2011 Sport? Just wondering how the 3.5L would sound with some Borla or Magnaflow universals as I can't really drop the money for the full cat-back right now. Any sound/video clips would be greatly appreciated, as well as part numbers for what will fit if anyone has done it.

I don't think the $700 Magnaflow kit is worth it, nor do I have that kind of money laying around even if I did! I saw this video on Youtube....it looks like he custom did the whole cat-back with Magnaflow round bodies...
indymach
It may sound a bit better but it will not give you the entire effect like a catback system. As usual the stock exhaust is very restrictive. Opening up just better mufflers will proably not help a lot. Save your pennies and spend the extra money on an entire system. You will thank yourself later.

Jim Rockford
I had a crown vic sport I swapped the stock mufflers out for some magnaflows and I cut the stockers open, they are very restrictive. You can see a bump inside the inlet, its on both sides of the inlet pipe.. Inside necks down to almost half the inlet pipe diamiter.. they just suck
6Syxx6
These are some pics of my exhaust. I dug for part numbers off of Magnaflows website and went to a highly recommended local muffler shop. There was not an absolute need for the full catback because the pipe outer diameter is only a 1/4'' larger. This can save you up to $350 by just getting the "pancake" style mufflers, 4" tips and having a shop fill in the blanks and weld it all up. That kit they sell on Magnaflow is "bolt on"...not that it is bad but if you dont know what you are doing with the fit up...you can get leaks. My guy even sprayed it with high temp for the finishing touches! Price... a mere $360 cash money! An insane price if you ask me!!! Here are the pics for proof that it is a pure quality job for a low price. Yes that still exisists!!! 6Syxx6
It sounds pretty good for a V6. It purrs lightly at idle and has a pretty distinct low rumble under load and shifting through the lower gears. But she really comes alive when you floor it for off the line or for passing. Doesn't even sound like the same car in my opinion. Interior noise is just right...you hear a rumble but it doesn't carry that drone tone that can wear you down. I love the sound of a V-8 much more but Im pretty happy with this setup and would reccomend it to any Sport owner!!! I get compliments on it damn near everyday. Fusion lovers seem to pick it out right away when they see it so its nice to get the respect these cars earned and deserve. Video you say? I have one but it doesnt really do it justice...I will work on a better one using my Go Pro when it isnt raining. 6Syxx6
any video will do ha. and what exactly did u get done? any pipe work? or just mufflers? It is stock piping from the cat back to the "Y" and from there it is sleeved over and bent tubing to Magnaflow pancake style mufflers. My Magnaflow tips cost more than the mufflers did, lol!
