Who has lowered their 2010+ Fusion?

Recommended Posts

Those of you who have lowered your 2010+ Fusion, I have some questions for you:

1) What springs did you go with?

2) Did you have to adjust Camber/Caster at all?

3) Are there any needed camber kits, or is there enough adjustment ability in the oem system?

4) Would you have done anything differently?

Please post pics of your ride!

Thanks all.

I used the Ford Racing springs on my 2010 Fusion Sport.

I did not try to reset caster/camber, but have put 18K on since the drop and the tires are wearing evenly.

Would not have done anything differently. I love the look of the car with the drop.

There are plenty of pics of lowered Fusions on the Forum and in the Photo Gallery. Here's mine:

Hey autoxr1, Are you on fordfusionclub.com? car looks good. I love the blue and it looks beautiful in the snow!!! Haha what drop do you have?

I'm looking into steeda, h&r, and tein. Steeda is made specifically for the fusion. Steeda and H&R have a awd versions. And tein has lower drops. Im not sure if I want to go lower than 1.5 cause the stock shock probably won't be able to handle it. I'd like to see and hear about the springs your going to have.

Just becareful Murder... as far as I remember Steeda and H&R were the only two options for lowering springs in 10 and 11s with AWD.

Steeda made theirs for the AWD and it works on both.

H&R makes a FWD and AWD version.

Everyone else, as far as I can tell, makes theres for FWD and it wont fit your AWD.

Cant say Im 100% sure at the moment, but sure enough Id bet money on it.

you could be right. but ive seen teins on AWD's (mainly S-techs). im being told to go 2 inches but to me thats a bit much. ive seen steeda's and they lower pretty damn good (and not expensive)! i havent heard or seen anyone with H&R. well maybe one but im not sure. if i go any lower than 1.5 then ill need to buy shocks right? im also on Fordfusionclub.com and theres a thread that this dude made that basically tells you everything you need to know. heres the link. i was reading it and it gave some good listings to whats out there. since me being somewhat of a newbie when it comes to lowering.

but im tired of my car having more of a 4x4 stance than an F150. LOL so soon i will be lowering it.

If you've seen them on AWDs then you are probably right, just musta been something Ive not gotten the chance to see yet.

I picked up some H&R springs for mine, they look great in the box LOL

Need to borrow a driveway/garage to get them in, my condo doesnt allow repairs in the driveway...boooo

And yes im on that forum too... that thread was a big help

I don't have the AWD but I did go with the steeda springs. I found that the back dropped about 2 inches and the front didn't drop much at all. So what I did was notch out the top of the wishbone that bolts on to the shock by about half an inch. This dropped the front down enough to match the back end and now I really like the way it looks. If you find your front is a bit high and wan to notch it like i did, just remember that if you take half an inch off the wishbone, your ride drops 1 inch. I measured under the car and the lowest point is 4 inches. The wheels I have are the Enkei RPF1 with 225/45/17 tires which are one series lower than stock.

If you look at the image I uploaded, you will see the parts to cut out.

Also, the shock has a indent for where the bolt goes across it. Since the shock now sits lower, your bolt will hit the shock so what I did was grind off the threads of the middle of the bolt and put a bit of grease on it so it would slide over the shock easier. If you want to get an idea of how much the bolt cuts in, put the bolt into the wishbone with out the shock in it and look inside. The other thing you might be able to do is put another dent in the shock but I don't know what is on the inside so you might ruin something.

I forgot to mention that taking 0.5" off the top of the wishbone lowers the car by 1.0" so maybe start by taking 0.25" off and see how it looks.

I've been driving it like this for about half a year. No issues. The only unrelated front suspension issue I have had was that the nut on top of the strut wiggled loose and made a heck of a noise when everything rattled around.
