K&N versus Steeda

Been looking into the induction setup on the little four banger. I have removed the silencer cone and am digging the throatier sound when I get on the gas harder. I may consider changing out the airbox induction system once I'm wrapped up with the repairs needed on the Fusion currently. I noticed there is a huge difference between the K&N intake compared to the Steeda one. K&N replaces the air inlet tube that elimates the J shaped resonator while Steeda has a cap you can put in its place. Anyone ever compared both intakes and if there's a difference? I know the resonator is to help on the tip in performance, but let's face it, the immediately acceleration response is not there on these engines. Would eliminating the resonator make that worse or help in the matter? Of course I realize a custom tune would help, but would be curious. I'm getting the itch to do something with this car beyond the simple stuff I've done to it thus far.
