lifeinva
I am looking at replacing my worn front brake pads on my 2010 Fusion SE 2.5. I am looking online (fordparts dot com) and finding 2 OEM part numbers for my model: 1. BR-1164-B Disc Brake Pad Ford Retail Spec (Front) $66.63 2. BRF-1164 Disc Brake Pad (Front) $83.30 Does anyone know the differences in these two part numbers? I am guessing semi metallic vs ceramic?
drolds1
#1 is the Motorcraft line of aftermarket parts. These are not OEM. #2 is Ford OEM and are the same pads that came on your car from the factory. When you see brake special ads from the dealer, that's usually for the Motorcraft pads. The OEM pads are extra. Dealers use Motorcraft pads all the time, so it's not a safety issue. OEM will cost extra. They're an organic compound and probably won't last as long as OEM. The OEM pads will assure you of OEM performance. BTW, those prices are high. They're MSRP. You can do better on Amazon or teamfordparts.com if you want the OEM. You pays yer money and you takes yer choice

Dyoct
Go with the OEM Ford pad. It is sometimes referred to as "Ford blue box." I have worked in the service side for 2 years and I can tell you that I will never put anything other than the OEM pad on any vehicle I own or that I personally service for someone else.
