Dyoct
I am getting amped up (NOT!) to do the thermostat on my 2.3L. I am right at the cusp of 90K and with nearly 6 years on the rubber I am considering changing out the hoses as a preventative measure. However, the main radiator hoses are very complex and costly. They all feel pretty good and I'm thinking of keeping the be and get them next time when the t-stat goes which hopefully isn't until at least 150K. Has anyone on here had the unfortunate experience of a hose bursting or any type of leaks? Looking back at my brief career at the dealership I never saw any problems with hoses.
FusionDiffusion
Yeah, hoses usually don't burst unless something else is wrong with the engine. The pressure caps are supposed to release first. I've driven cars with 20 year old original hoses and they're just fine. Six years is a good time to do a coolant flush if you're not already doing it with the t-stat.
