Mr. FusionSEL
Hello all, I have a 2011 Ford Fusion SEL and I have a solution for adding accessories that you went to Turn on and off with the KEY! Here it is: Use FUSE 43... this fuse is NOT used but there is a 10 AMP fuse is already installed . Parts needed: Purchase a Bussmann HHH Accessory Mini Add-A-Line that uses ATM 2-10 AMP fuses. Part/CAT No. BP/HHH You can purchase this at ADVANCED AUTO or any other Auto Store on online. $6.96 about. SEE this URL: http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_ATM-Fuse-Tap-Bussmann_5080114-P_N4017D_A|GRP2020A____ NOTE: Get one more ATM 10 AMP fuse as well. You will need it. I just installed and wired this into my car and works just fine. I have my radar detector and sleek for my Iphone all now controlled off the KEY... Work's great! Enjoy and let me know how it works for you? Edited September 30, 2011 by Mr. FusionSEL

Oldguy16
I have a 2010 SEL and I used the passenger airbag sensor circuit. Still working great with my radar detector. I think its fuse 46 but check the manual. I know for a fact its the passenger airbag sensor fuse though.

Was thinking of somehow doing a Relay to the ignition, but i have no idea how to that, or running a line from the battery, to a sepereate fuse block . Any suggestions?

Find a circuit that's only on when the ignition is on and tap it, either with a fuse tap or by splicing into a wire. Then run a line directly from the battery to the relay and add the trigger wire from step 1. Then run the other wire from the relay to the equipment.

Thanks again

Thanks again You don't need a high-amp fuse - that's why you're using a relay. The ignition source is just a trigger for the relay to close the connection from the battery straight to the accessory. If you don't understand it then get a pro to do it for you - any local stereo shop will know how. Shouldn't be too expensive.
andrewdingemans
Did anyone find out which one to use? I think that you may be able to tap the heated seats or heating fuse, that seems like something that would run high amperage. And these only work with the key in the 'ON' position.
gpgyo
I connected a Valentine 1 this weekend in a 2012 Fusion SEL and have two questions for anyone that's used fuse 43 and the fuse tap mentioned in the original post. First, does your radar detector power right up when you start your car? Mine flickers and chirps for a couple of seconds before it goes into the usual start up routine and I'm not sure why. This never happened in my old car. Second, how did you get the wire from the fuse tap out of the fuse box? I extended the fuse tap's wire andI drilled a hole in the top of the fuse box cover thinking I could snake the wire through the hole then put the cover on. I still think its possible to get it out this way but I couldn't get it to work. Eventually I got tired of fighting the cover while standing on my head and gave up (could the fuse box be in a worse place?) By the way, the little pocket on the right side of the glove box is a great place to keep the fuse box door. Thanks.
dslai
Hi, I know this is an old thread, but I came across this while looking into hard wiring a dashcam in my 2011 Fusion. I used fuse 43 and the Bussman fuse tap as suggested and the hard wiring works fine. The problem I'm having though is how to put the fuse box cover back on. The wire coming out of the fuse tap in fuse 43 comes out around the area where the cover snaps onto the fuse box. Is anyone using a fuse tap on fuse 43 able to put the cover back on because I don't see a way to do it. Or is there another fuse position that could be used to allow the cover to be put back on? Thanks for any suggestions.
ERUHCK
I am looking to install a Radar detector in my 2016 Fusion SE. I have had one previously set up in my Fiesta so I already have a tap a circuit, which fuse should I pull to add this to? I can't stand my fuse box is on the firewall, it makes it very difficult to reach. Any tips or tricks on reaching it?

I can't stand my fuse box is on the firewall, it makes it very difficult to reach. Any tips or tricks on reaching it? By "tap a circuit", do you mean Add-a-Circuit? If so, what kind of fuses were used in the Fiesta? If they weren't Micro2 fuses, then you're goind to need a new Add-a-Circuit, as your Fusion uses Micro2 (and Micro3)fuses. Try #36. The only tip I can offer is that, if you don't already have one, get yourself an adjustable strap head lamp flashlight. You're going to need two hands free for this job and a light that you can focus on your work with, as you've apparently found, the fuse panel/BCM is a real PITA to get to on this car.
Fusboi
Wow, I hate to post on something that looks like it was wrapped up in May but I'm new to this forum. Fuse #36 didn't work for me, adding an Add-a-Circuit for my radar detector. Also in a 2016 Fusion. Any other ideas or suggestions out there? Once I'm under the dash it's not like I want to be under there any more than I need to be. I appreciate the help.
callousflawed
Anyone know which fuse to tap into in a 2014 Fusion SE that's only on when the car's running? Unfortunately, the fuse diagram changed a lot from 2011. I can use my meter to test, but figured I'd ask first.
