I have been reading forums all over the place and every one complains about the SE and their lack of accessories. for example, aluminum wheels, auto headlights, leather steering wheel, leather center console, chrome fog light bezels, V rated tires, im sure im forgetting something. either way, my point is that my 2011 SE has all of those options. I didnt think it was that rare, but by the way everyone is talking about their SEs, im wondering how rare these options are? maybe the dealse put some stuff on my car that isnt supposed to be there? just trying to find out some info. thanks for any help you all may have.

Hi Goneracin. :D Your car is not "rare". Anyone who wanted one just like yours could have ordered one if it was not on their Dealers lot. In reality, the SE trim Fusion can be optioned out pretty well. However, if a buyer limits themselves to what is on the Dealers lot (or what their Dealer will trade for with another Dealer), instead of being choosier and looking around or Factory Ordering (my personal preference) what they want, then they are stuck with what is on the Dealers lot. It is very simple to tell how a new vehicle came equipped from the factory, as it will be listed on the Window Sticker. Other than items like pinstriping, Scotchguarding, undercoating, window etching etc., the vast majority of Dealers rarely add the type of options you are referencing to their Inventory vehicles.

Hope I explained this in an understandable manner.

Good luck. :beerchug:

The SE can be configured with all those options, but most people that want those options just move up to the SEL trim where the mostly come standard (it might be slightly cheaper as well). People that buy SE's are slightly more budget conscious and don't want to pay for all that stuff and just want a bare bones midsize sedan. So yes, I believe a fully loaded SE is slightly more rare.

ok thanks. thats pretty much exactly what i thought. i didnt think my car was rare really, i just kept hearing people complain about all the stuff their SE didnt have, and I didnt understand why since (my car being the example) it was all available to start with.

thanks for confirming my thoughts. :shift:

I went with the SE as well due to the substantial price difference between it and the SEL. Almost pulled the trigger on a bare-bones SEL instead, but the dealership treated me like crap and I went somewhere else.

Now that bare-bones SEL was a rare car. Most every dealership laughed in my face when I told them I was looking for an SEL sans moon roof. Only found one, and was quite annoyed when they wouldn't do anything for me on the price in negotiations. I walked away and got a MUCH better deal on the SE.

The one I ended up going with is an SE with the 4 cylinder automatic, sync radio, auto headlights, fog lights, power doors/windows/seat, and a spoiler. Only things I really wish I had were the auto climate controls and heated seats. Everything else was just fluff as far as I was concerned.

Even if a Fusion is "rare" in terms of options/colors, I doubt they'll ever be collectible (worth a lot of money). In 2003 Ford made Centennial versions of lots of vehicles (I owned a Taurus) and people always tried, then failed, to sell them for higher than KBB value because they were "Special Edition." In the end, they were just a Taurus/Explorer of which Ford made millions...

I agree chington, i would never think of a car like our fusions being a collectors item, and yea, the centenial editions were a little rare, but i dont see why they would be worth more either. its just like how honda puts "limited edition" on some cars. limited to what? only 10,000,000 units produced? what about the explorer limited? whats limited about it? lol

besides, we all know, just because something is rare or really old, doesnt mean it is worth anything.

I was just wondering why all these SE owners were complaining about not having the options, when they could have gotten them in the first place. I went with an SE because i wanted a manual transmission. the manual transmission option was actually what pulled me twards the fusion in the first place. I was going to be happy with a fairly bare bones car, but then the dealer messed up the deal on the car i wanted and forund me my current one instead. now in hindsight im very glad i did go for all the other options and different color. everything happens for a reason. :shift:

Interesting, I didn't realize that about the SELs. I have a 2010 SEL without a moon roof. Fine with me, I doubt I'd ever open one if I had it.

My take on rarity of the Fusions (2010-2012) in my area:

SE models are super common

SEL models are a little less common

Sport models are far less common

S models are the rarest (I've seen about 5 of them in 5 months, and 6MT models are SUPER rare)

...just my .02

I think the only rare thing about the SE's is the manual transmission and in Tuxedo Black, it took my dealer a little bit of time to find one. They had try to stick me with an automatic but when I insisted that they don't charge me for it because it's an option I don't want they magically found one the next day.

i've got a 09 se manual and tuxedo black. I did find a steering wheel; that has leather on it. Much better. I also found some 17" sel wheels and tires Makes the car look a ton better. It does have the fog lights with the chrome around them. Would be nice to have the auto lights but oh well. Love the car. good gas mileage. Love the way the car looks in the sun when it's clean

A fully loaded Fusion SE is a little rare. I looked hard for about a week to compare other fusions within my price range I just bought my 09 Fusion SE this past Saturday with 29,000 miles. It has the 18" aluminum rims, two-tone leather seats, leather wrapped sterring wheel, sunroof, ford Sync, and spoiler. I love it. Of course it did not come with traction control or automatic headlamps but thats not really a big deal. I live in Illinois so i'd be good to go with some snow tires if i really wanted to. Sometimes finding these cars will just fall in your lap or just become a quest for the holy grail or something.

What's rare is S and manual transmissions (in either S or SE)

Why are people complaining about the lack of these features? They shouldn't have bought the car if they wanted those features that much. As it is the SE (and even the S) are well equipped. Air conditioning, CD player, cruise control, power locks/windows/mirrors. Let alone things that have been standard for a while: passenger side mirror, radio of any sort, power brakes, power steering.

i just traded my fully optioned 06 SE on my 12 SEL i factory ordered the SE new and even the dealer was shocked by all the options on turn in. so they are out there. and i went SEL because from what i can tell you can't even order the SE with leather anymore (mine had it) plus i got a very good deal on the car is its a loaded up 301A tuxedo black. and i paid out the door the going rate for a upgraded SE

and my SE was the V6

Well in the used market a well equipped SE is pretty rare. There's a huge price difference (IMO) between the SEL and the SE, and if I could have found an SE with a V6 and sync I'd have jumped, the "leather" seats in cars I can afford just don't impress me, and I'd have been plenty happy with cloth. I have to agree the 6mt is ultra rare, I couldn't find any 2010 or newer within a 100mile radius with that "option" without a factory order.

I myself have the fusion you regard as "rare", or similar to yours. I have a 2012 Fusion SE V6 in Silver with Sun & Sync Package and the Monochrome Appearance Package (very rare). The latter gave me a sport suspension, V-Rated tires, 18" wheels, leather wrapped steering wheel & shift knob, spoiler and, my favorite option, a color-keyed front grille. It cleans up the look of the car and makes it pop. My fusion is one of a kind because I took the liberty of reupholstering the interior with black Napa leather, while leaving the cool door covering and following the two-tone piping look that came with it. Needless to say, I adore my car. I wouldn't have gotten it without the chrome delete option, I think the chrome grill looks tacky.

I have a 2011 SE with Sun & Sync and 6mt. I wish I had that "gunmetal" colored grill or color keyed to the paint, I completely agree about the chrome. It's just too much. Anyone know where I would go to look for any one of those two options? I would rather buy than waste time trying to paint mine, eventually screwing it up, and having to buy it anyway.
