Flieger
My 09 Fusion Se 4 cyl is the first Ford I've had in well over 20 years. My car only has 5,600 miles and the bumper to bumper warranty expired this past December. I don't put on a ton of miles in a year, but am going to start this summer. I was offered a premium ESP warranty- 3/36,000 for $700. Is it worth it, or am I safer on the odds for so low a mileage. Generally my experience has been you don't start having problems until after 50-60k.
Photi_G
My '08 Milan is inching closer to the end of its factory warranty-6yr/36K powertrain, and not a hint of anything. Chances are your warranty will expire before anything serious goes wrong with the car, but the Fusion tends to be very reliable. From past experience, my last Ford (well, Mercury) didn't start worrying me until 125K, but it turned out it was just the plug wires and low trans fluid. Fixed it myself in 2hrs time.

Kremerica
You still have a powertrain warranty for 2 more years. I just bought a 2009 SEL, how long are these warrantied for? I thought only the trucks had a 100,000 mile drivetrain warranty. For the OP, I have 67,000 miles now and the heated drivers seat has failed. I believe it is just the pad, an $80 part, based on another post in the forums. The second problem is the fan motor is making noise, a very high pitched squeel when running, so I'll have to replace that soon I'm sure.

joenewyork
Thanks for your input and help. I think I will take my chances since my miles are so low. I appreciate your help. Got my 2010 Fusion at the end of 09 - begining of the 2010 model year - have about 50K miles and happy to report no real problems! Keeping fingers crossed.

jeff_h
I don't put on a ton of miles in a year, but am going to start this summer. I think I am on the other end of the spectrum... I have a 2010 FFH and the only thing I've had go wrong was the check engine light came on at 63k although things were running fine. Took to dealer and they had to replace the oxygen sensor, and that was it. I now have 107k.
deo1929
I got my Fusion in November of '09. At 3,000 miles, a sloshing sound began in the dash on the passenger side. After multiple trips to the dealer for various attemts at solving the problem, Ford sent in a field engineer when it had 6,000 miles and was 3 months old. The engine was replaced (2.5L) and the problem went away. You can see the thread on this saga by searching "Sloshing Noise". Ford eventually claims it's a problem with the coolant tank and other plumbing (de-gas kit...don't remember the part or TSB number). Other warranty items were a Sync reflash, AC control reflash, and a broken driver's side inside door handle. I now am closing in on 60K. Hopefully, I won't have any other major issues.
